He's got a great codename, but he really should have been an Automatic Rifleman, Grenadier or some other heavy weapons specialist (although by the time he was released, Hasbro had begun to go off the deep end in terms of weapons). I was happy to see it was something you corrected. |

I agree with the codename thing Zulu. It should match the character and the character's job, or at least something about his personality.
Hit & Run is a good example. It's his personality. Shipwreck was a great codename. Rock 'n Roll was great because it was personality and you could just see a machine gunner saying "it's time to rock 'n roll" before he let loose. Besides just describing the person or job, it should have had a "cool" factor as well. Dial Tone describes his job, but it just sounds bad (and dated). Beachhead, it doesn't say ranger, but it tells you that this guy is the first one there. Stretcher describes the job, it just doesn't sound cool. Doc describes the job, but it's kind of plain. Bazooka for a bazooka trooper? Ugh... So what are the best codenames? Rock 'n Roll Lifeline Leatherneck Gung-Ho Tunnel Rat Flint Beachhead Alpine Hit & Run Crosshair Snow Job (most of the arctic guys had good codenames) Spearhead Cool ones that didn't match: Recoil (definately top of the list)

I liked Frostbite and Iceberg(Slim)'s codenames, along with Torpedo, Ripcord, and Low Light. |

Low-Light was good for a night ops guy, but I always found it lacking for a sniper.
Ripcord was good. Freefall was great. Torpedo was good, but never thought it fit a SEaL, same with Wet Suit and Wet Down.

I think them being fans was a part of it, but it was moreso because they became experts in too many things and were so highly ranked. This is in contrast to the other Joes who were based on real people (Dusty, Tunnel Rat, Sneak Peek) who were more realistically balanced and of lower rank.
Sort of porn star-ish, actually. "Hello miss, my name's Stretcher and I'm here to fix the plumbing." My favourite code names: - Torpedo - Gung-Ho - Tunnel Rat - Mercer (the term "mercer" is an archaic term for "trader" but I also like how it's phonetically reminiscent of "mercenary", and both qualities represent the character's features well, I think) - Snake-Eyes (not really very character-specific when you think about it, but I like the imagery it evokes... rolling a "snake-eyes" in craps is associated with bad luck. Also, rolling a "snake-eyes" is often talked about in terms of being betrayed by the dice, which I think dramatically encapsulates the hand fate has dealt to Snake-Eyes). |

I never liked the "uber-Joes" either. What was the point of having a guy like Tunnel Rat, if there was an "uber-Joe" that could do his job and others as well?
The whole point of Joe was that these were the top guys in their fields.

Really? An underwater weapon used to destroy waterborne objects? Especially when you consider how the SeALs grew out of the UDTs. |

Technically speaking, he was a night ops guy. It was inferred that he was a sniper (much like Scarlett), but he was listed as a "Night Spotter".
