You know, there's a scene in the new Get Smart (with Steve Carrell and the incredibly beautiful Anna Hathaway... yummy... anyways...) where the director of CONTROL (the Get Smart organization) is meeting with the VEEP and all the other intelligence agencies (including a couple of generals and an admiral or two).
In the movie, everyone is making fun of the CONTROL guys because the organization they're tasked with fighting, CHAOS, is considered old news and a laughingstock. Anyways, I think the idea applies here, in the movie it seems each person there represents an organization tasked with fighting a specific threat. CONTROL fights CHAOS. In a way it makes sense, as long as they can play well with eachother when need to, because that means each group can focus on their specific counterpart and equip and train their people on the tactics of that specific enemy.

Also sucks cause I went and bought 2 Cobra Legion Drivers and 2 UBP Gunners off a Tanker (got a great deal, so not that upset) for the specific purpose of filling out my Stinger Teams when got the 2 Stingers I had originally ordered.
Oh well, the best laid plans, lol...

That's a good way to look at it.
I see the Joes has being tasked with dealing with the "above normal" terrorist organizations like the Red Shadows, Cobra and Iron Grenadiers. The groups that can afford the high priced technology and training, so the Joes get the training and the "toys" to combat that (fight fire with fire). So a group like Al Qeada (spelling is off I know) wouldn't fall under the Joes area of operations unless they were trying to broker a deal with Destro for some arms. The Joe team isn't big enough to go after the small but powerful COBRA organization and still get bogged down dealing with all the other terrorists of the world. So Delta and DEVGRU gets the larger but weaker terrorists that rise and fall over time, and GI Joe gets the big dogs in COBRA. |

And going a step further, in using the Joint Task Force model, it would make sense when the NATO sponsored Action Force drops a few members in for select missions.

Yeah, I guess that makes alot of sense. Delta/Devgru deal with the "meat and potatoes" terrorist organizations and G.I. Joe deals with the "gourmat meals" terrorist organizations.

I like to incorporate everybody so I'm working out the idea of how, Red SKull, who I make the commander of Hydra started as the original Global terrorist Organization. One of his underlings, Baron Ironblood, broke off when they discovered some Star Wars tech.
A hidden base in Brazil where clone troopers have been operating for centuries in seclusion, unbeknownst to the world. Run by robots and droids the Clones have been in stasis waiting for orders from Vader or the Emperor. Discovered by none other than Dr. Jones, the Clone army had been untouched for centuries. Well Indiana Jones fell into Stasis-state as well, but by some accident was awoken by the Black Dragon Forces, who were spying on the Red Shadows. Two of Baron's Henchmen, realizing they could turn a huge profit by selling the tech to another group, gave the secrets to a new terrorist Organization.....COBRA. Those two were none other than Tomax and Xamot. They brought the Crimson Guards with them. Meanwhile Dr Jones escapes from the Clone Base and is found by a local Joe training Force. Mission Brazil. (This team is still in the works) At this point I wish I had the ability to do DIOs, because I have the figures. Eventually the Joes will destroy most of the tech that doesn't get woken up from Stasis. Yet MindBender (Come on BBTS!) will use what he has to create the BATS and the Cloning tech to create Serpentor. In the end way to much work for just the Joes alone. Not sure how to make the Joes coexist with the SEALs and Rangers and Green Berets and Delta, but I would imagine they would have areas of influence. Probably more Country Specific than continent. After a while all the baddies would have to work for Cobra. Maybe not Red Skull. My problem is how to incorporate Nick Fury. Probably have him come in with the Joe tech team. Maybe Iron Man and Matt trakker. I need a Tony Stark custom. |

I don't think it should be Joe = Delta. I think it should be Joe > Delta. GI Joe is sort of like an elite joint task force that recruits the best people from the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines and even Coast Guard. Joe consists of SEALs and SEAL Team 6, Marine Force Recon, Special Forces, Delta, SOAR, Rangers, PJs and other elite units. If Delta is the public face, Joe is the true secret task force. Joes are even more individualistic than Delta, with personal customized weapons and uniforms, long hair and mustaches, women operating in combat roles, and with more autonomy. Joe is the creme de la creme of the military.
