Aw man I had him too. he SUX. I did have Optimus and Grimlock and Omega Supreme, and two of the Constructicons. Can you imagine figuring out the ranks for the Transformers. It was listed and It always confused me. The Joes ranks made some sense but the TF was unbelievable at times.

Blind Soldier Capt. Ivan Castro Hasn't Lost Sight Of Mission - wcco.com
I try to keep up with your guys' discussions in the thread and have seen some interesting ways of using Snake-Eyes. Being mute he may be discharged but I don't think it would be as large a problem as being blind like the soldier in the article. Granted he does no direct combat, but being mute you can still communicate. ASL is something I am currently learning and doesn't the military use sign in the field? Granted it would be difficult to determine what he was communicating in the field under fire, however body language can be read if you practice. Watch a movie with no sound and try to guess what is being discussed you may not get the words but you can get the tone and intentions. |

That's pretty amazing. Sheesh the sky's the limit for Snake-Eyes compared to this guy.

Watch a movie with no sound and try to guess what is being discussed you may not get the words but you can get the tone and intentions. As to whether or not a mute (or blind, for that matter) soldier can still stay on the force, it all depends on their MOS. A soldier will be "forced" into separation if their disability prevents them from fulfilling their duties as prescribed by their MOS, if they can't be placed in a "reduced capacity" duty designation within their MOS, or if they're unable to re-train for admission into a different MOS where their disability won't be an operational liability. Offhand, it seems like the captain in the article that was linked to falls into the second case (he retains the SF Officer career, but his role is now limited, for all intents and purposes, to that of a designated non-combatatant). Which is all well and good, as an SF officer's primary "weapon" is his mind, and able-bodied officers accomplish unconventional warfare mission goals all the time without getting into direct engagement with the enemy, so it's not at all unreasonable to think that a non-sighted officer could do the same (but it's still unusual, impressive, and exemplary all the same, not trying to take anything away from the good captain, quite the opposite, in fact). I don't know if the same can be said for a mute enlisted infantryman, though. Tactical signaling (verbal and non-verbal) forms a large part of an infantryman's set of supporting skills and I think it would be hard to justify retaining a mute infantryman when direct visual contact and a clear line of sight are strict necessary & sufficient conditions for practical two-way communication to take place between said soldier and his squad-mates. Communicating within a squad in combat situations is hard enough with all the signaling options available, why would any sane commander want to complicate matters further by employing a soldier who is limited to communicating with gestures and visual schemes? |

I can see a blind man still working in HQ or in planning. A mute person would have a more difficult time because of the inability to get their ideas described. Sign language makes it difficult to fully describe detailed strategies and writing it down makes "on the fly" discussions and comments difficult as well.

Rampart looks awesome. Perfect. Love that you gave him Stinger training to go along with the missile launcher he came with.

And he's a trained SEAL. pretty badass. Makes sense.
You know we haven't really ever mentioned the fact that the joes really need some sort of Submarine. One way to deploy SEALS is underwater. The Joes should have some sort of Submarine. In the Sigma Six cartoons Cobra had a humongous Sub. The size of an Aircraft Carrier, with flight pods and all that. The Joes don't need anything that big, but the Soviets make them that big. As a kid I made a custom guy called "Hull" who piloted my Rebel transport which looked like a great sub. I just forgot all about it until I started looking up Rampart's Stinger ATW qualifications. It's amazing how the NAVY NEC 9540 Course is available for SEALs specifically or Patrol Coastal. How do you get this shit to tie in so well Zulu? I use to wonder since I wasn't aware of a "Shoreline Defender" MOS/NEC. |

Now I think about it the Joes need a Submarine Aircraft Carrier:
Google Image Result for http://fc45.deviantart.com/fs39/i/2008/322/2/5/Underwater_aircraft_carrier_by_VoughtVindicator.jp g I just googled Submarine Aircraft Carrier. |

The Joes have mini-subs (or is it just Cobra?) and the SHARC. But I can see them needing some kind of carrier sub, for troops and mini-subs. Maybe only big enough to transport and deploy a couple dozen troops or something. Wouldn't need to be a combat sub, just transport and deployment.
