Most officers in significant command and staff roles have a chaffeur/driver assigned to them. Additionally, they can get a detached MP, infantryman, or even an E.O.D. specialist for additional protection as warranted. All four can and do serve in the "bodyguard" capacity.
For some reason, I see Skidmark serving this role. Something about his look just says more "protection" then "driving".

I know. I don't even bother looking it up anymore, I just ask cause I know Zulu or Oliver will have the answers and with supporting links. And will get it alot faster then I can find it.

So where do they Store the LCUs. I see a cargo ship can bring one to theater, or a few. But what did the Marines do in the Pacific. D-Day I can see the LCUs making the trip across the channel but where did the Marines keep theirs. These stored on the Ship somewhere or Towed?

Depends on what you mean by "at all times." In a non-tactical environment (say in a rear command post or on an established base/installation) the driver wouldn't literally be at the officer's side all the time. He'd be just like any enlisted aide, accompanying the officer when necessary.

So basically Skidmark would be hanging out in the rec room waiting for Hawk to call and say "we're leaving for the Tiger Force base".

He probably wouldn't be in the rec room. He'd be doing something else while not driving his officer around, like non-specialist clerical work or first-echelon vehicle maintenance or some such or he could be working as an "unqualified" enlisted aide (basically a glorified go-fer/dog robber).

So that's another position I have to add, Hawk's driver/bodyguard.
I'm also thinking of giving Fort Hama a Chaplain and Chaplain's Assistant. A base of the size of FH would have a need for that, and even a small chapel.

Makes me think about the religious leanings of the Joe team (somebody tell me if this falls under the "off-limit topics" category for these forums, by the way). There's at least one Buddhist on the team (Tripwire) and a number of others who can potentially be Buddhists (Snake-Eyes, Quick-Kick, Jinx, Budo, and maybe even Claymore). I can see Stalker being a "Black Muslim," especially given the tenor of his original filecard. His background as a gang member who speaks Arabic and Swahili sort of makes me think that Hama was going for a Black Panther/Nation of Islam type thing (consider the context of the times he originally created the Stalker character in)... that line in his flavour text "moves like some sort of jungle cat -- silent -- fast -- strong" particualrly makes me think it was a not-so-subtle Black Panther Party reference. Shockwave has an Arabic last name (Faria) but having an Arabic surname doesn't necessarily mean a person's origins are rooted in Islam (a lot of people in the Middle East are Coptic Christians, particularly in Egypt). There are probably a good number of Jewish Joes too, or at least Joes who might be descended from European-Jewish families (probably Germanic or Slavic) just judging from their last names: Clutch (Steinberg), Leatherneck (Metzger), Windmill (Roth), Tollbooth (Goren), Bazooka (Katzenbogen), Cover Girl (Krieger), Footloose (Meyers). |

I'll leave the figuring out how to integrate the Chaplain to Oliver, since that's what he is.
I think in a unit like the Joes, having someone that could interact with people of all faiths and be someone they could come to would be very important. In a unit like the Joes, the interaction and ability to get along among the members is huge, so having religious differences crop up would not be a good thing. I've been toying with the idea of having a baseball field put onto the grounds of the base. Things like that have a way of getting people together and bonding. So along with that idea, broader things like religion would be very important to make sure everyone is happy and gets along. Would services be held? And if so, what kind?

Just did this today:
Outdoor firing range. There will be one underground off the armory, but there's nothing like learning to aim in bad weather.
