So how do you guys prefer to use Flint anyway? I figure you could simply use him as a squad leader (E6) if going by his first file card. Or you might use him in a Special Forces role: an A-Team's Assistant Detachment Commander or even a B-Team's Company Technician (WO3). Or do you simply use him as a helicopter pilot (WO3), perhaps even a SOAR pilot for special ops?
My interpretation is that he was an infantryman who then went reclassification into Special Forces, after which he then went on to Warrant Officer Candidate School and got into the Aviation Warrant Officer program. But just because he used to be an enlisted Special Forces operator doesn't mean he's also a Special Forces Warrant Officer. The route to becoming a Special Forces Officer is different. First off, an SF Warrant Officer candidate has to be an E-7 and he must hold the SF Assistant Operations & Intelligence Sergeant MOS before he can be considered for a SF Warrrant Officer position. He then goes to WOCS with the other Warrant Officer candidates before going to the SF Warrant Officer program. So while I think the case for the "original" Flint was the former, I prefer to view "my" version of Flint as the latter, because in spirit and theme, I just don't see him as a pilot, primarily (in my "Joeverse," Flint cross-trained in the basic warrant officer aviator course, so eh's qualified to fly aeroscout helicopters and small utility helicopters, but he's no Lift-Ticket or Wild Bill) It's probably out there somewhere (try your local university's library... they should have access to that stuff via their affiliated ROTC program). Alternatively, it's possible that the document hasn't been "cleared" yet. The FOIA allows the public to view those documents, but it sometimes takes years for that stuff to get out (and a lot of it is heavily redacted). I think most of the stuff that's easily obtainable right now is about 4 or 5 years old at the most recent. |

I never liked that America's Elite made Flint into the helicopter pilot at the beginning. I never saw Flint as an expert pilot, but someone that had learned just to learn. My take was that he knew how to fly helicopters as a means of extraction during a mission. His filecard hints at lots of rescue missions, so I figured he learned how to fly choppers to help assisst on those rescue missions.
It's alot easier to tell the guys doing the mission "steal an enemy chopper and get out of there" then it would to be try and organize a lift out.

Man, it's hard to keep up with all of the Army's units and training schools, etc. I wish there was a comprehensive, thoroughly organized list of everything. I've simply been putting bits and pieces together from the FMs and other sources. Its confusing too how to distinguish between all of the various units. There seems to be a lot of overlap as well.
Below is a general outline of what I researched for the Ranger Regiment alone. It's more detailed than this, however. I have all the HQs, Medical Section, FO Party, Rifle Squad, Mortar Section, etc, broken down into their smallest units. For instance, a Ranger Company HQ Section has a CO (O3), XO (O2), First Sgt (E8), Comm Sgt/Tactical Chief, 2 RTOs, Supply Sgt, NBC (CBRN?) Sgt, Armorer, Snipers (?). General Outine: Ranger Regiment I. Regimental HHC a. HQ b. HQ Company II. Ranger Battalion (3) a. HHC i. HQ ii. Company HQ iii. Fire Support Element iv. HQ Staff Section v. Medical Section vi. Support Platoon vii. Communication Section b. Ranger Company (3) i. HQ Section ii. FIST 1. HQ 2. FO Party (3) iii. Rifle Platoon (3) 1. HQ 2. Rifle Squad (3) 3. Machine Gun Squad iv. Weapons Platoon 1. HQ 2. Mortar Section 3. Anti-Armor Section 4. Sniper Section? Last edited by Tanksmasher; 06-05-2009 at 04:47 PM.. |

I'd love to get this kind of detail for SFOD-D but if I did, I'd probably get arrested. ;)

Here’s an outline of what I've come up with for Delta but I still need more info. Like what are the individual titles/functions of each team member and what does each team specialize in?
SFOD-D I. HQ II. Squadron A (3 troops per squadron) a. Assault Troop (4-5 teams) i. Team 1 (4-5 men per team): HALO/HAHO 1. Team Leader (E7) 2. Assistant Team Leader (E6?) 3. Operator? 4. Operator? 5. Medic? ii. Team 2: SCUBA iii. Team 3: Air Assault? iv. Team 4: Rescue? v. Team 5 b. Sniper Troop c. Recon & Surveillance “Recce” Troop III. Squadron B IV. Squadron C V. Support? VI. Aviation Platoon? Last edited by Tanksmasher; 06-05-2009 at 05:02 PM.. |

Yeah. I never thought the helicopter was part of his military use, just something he had "picked up".

What do any of the services use for like a Learjet-equivalent? Blackhawks and such are good, but they aren't the fastest things to use. So what does the military use for a small passenger transport jet? And can it land on an aircraft carrier?

Overview of the airfield, all the hangers are there, the fuel tanks and the ammo building (which will be connected underground to the main armory).
The jet standby area. Can see the extra Skystrikers, the Conquest-equivalents (the ones with the folded up wings) and the extra Tiger Rats. Also has the "parking" area for the 2 C-130s (1 of which is on the runway) and the AC-130. Close-Up of the AC-130 Close-Up of the "Tiger Rats"

Close-Up of the "Conquests" and "Skystrikers"
Now in the helicopter "standby" area. The transport Blackhawk's sit alongside the back wall of the jet area. The Heavy Transport helicopters, a couple Sikorsky Skycranes and a Sea Stallion The 2nd Osprey (first is in front of the hanger) and another Blackhawk, this one outfitted with extra fuel pods for longer travel.
