I'm a huge Interrogator Fan. I don't think I ever played with the stupid battle copter. (I learned my lesson with the Falcon Glider and the parachutes in the Skystiker)
I have Interrogator as CC main Communications guy from back in the day when they realized he had this knack of getting information out of people. Plus on the Serpentor Filecard it mentions the Interrogator, instead of Mindbender. I like to think he's been around for a while. He had good little run in the Devil's Due issues, as a plague member and just before that. I can't say i hate Major Altitude but he was such a let down to me for some reason. He's a complete repaint. whereas Interrogator was an entirely new figure. But I hear what you're saying about there being a fan for every character. But Ice Cream Soldier? Really? I don't get that one. Especially the characters that have absolutely no character development through the cartoons or Comics. What's to love? Major Altitude's Filecard is terrible to. It's cool he's a fuselage designer or something, but he wants to join GIJoe when he's in elementary school, is lame. You have slots for additional pilots but then you would have to rename him Mr. Owens. What do they call warrant officers? Chief Owens? |

I don't like the cards where it mentions they specifically tried out for the Joe team, or wanted to be on the Joe team.
Isn't the Joe team supposed to be covert? How does someone in elementary school know about the Joe team? Also.. he's in elementary school and the Joe team was around? That doesn't jive with the time lines... A Marine Scout Sniper is sorely lacking in the Joes, so I went and made one, lol.

I realized I made a mistake on my base today. The runway ends pointing right at a couple of hangers (including the Stealth hanger).
That's not good. If a plane loses control on the runway, it's goodbye hangers and whatever equipment is stored inside. I'll have to look to see what I can do to fix it. But it's not going to be easy.

Cutter was the first. "Once he found out there was no coast guard representation on the Joe team, he bugged his congressman and got on" (or something to that effect).
Here's the question: How does a member of the Coast Guard (in the days before Homeland Security) find out about a covert operations group that runs missions outside the borders?

They're formally addressed as "Mr." in the Army, Navy, and Marines (so they'd address Flint as "Mr. Faireborn").
Informally, they're addressed as "Chief" in the Army and in the Marines. Additionally, USMC Warrant Officers serving as Weapons Officers in Marine Infantry units are also informally addressed as "Gunner" (not to be confused with "Gunny," the informal address for senior USMC sergeants). I don't know if you could get away with addressing a Navy Warrant Officer as "Chief," though (not with your ass unkicked, anyway ). That term is reserved for Chief Petty Officers, Senior Chief Petty Officers, and Master Chief Petty Officers (E-7s, E-8s, and E-9s, resepctively). The Navy's CPO community is very tight-knit and exclusive (my uncle says that the day he got inducted as a Chief Petty Officer was only behind the birth of his kids as the happiest day of his life), it's almost a separate rank structure distinct from other enlisted personnel in terms of tradition... they don't share dining or living quarters with other enlisted personnel, and they have a different formal uniform. Even superiors such as commissioned officers and nominal superiors like Warrant Officers have to address them as "Chief" when they're on duty. That's why I always wondered why they renamed the Torpedo character "Chief Torpedo" for a time. That's a mighty big error in terms of protocol and formal address convention. So I was thinking more about how to further develop a chronology of the Joes and their military training and I wanted keep things as close to some of the early file cards and comics as I could, which meant using 1982 to mark the beginning of GI joe, since that's when they first appeared, but according to Joe Colton's file card, Colton began developing GI Joe at the behest of JFK in 1963, which means there had to be Joes before Stalker, Flash, Duke etc.
Why did the writer choose 1963? Is this an allusion to the GI Joe dolls that came before the action figures because I have no knowledge of the Joe dolls nor do I want to. I guess I'm just going to have to stick with 1982 and rewrite Colton's involvement. |

Maybe you can have 1963 as the year that the program that would eventually evolve into the GI Joe team was established. |

The other part of 1963 takes place in the comics. In #152, Joe is shown as an advisor in 'Nam who is ordered home by JFK to start an elite unit, answerable only to the president. IMHO it's one of the best stories next to #155.
