I wasn't planning on buying the movie Vipers at all, but this isn't a bad idea.

In my joe verse The Neo-Vipers from the VvV years were a Mindbender experiment that most of its participants went crazy and they few who didn't die were extra crazy, but loyal to Serpentor. I see these guys as additional forces loyal to Serpentor. My Range Vipers are also loyal to Serpentor. As are most of the Environmental Forces and the Venomized guys like Jungle-Vipers and Razor Troopers.

I hate Serpentor. I have him getting run out of Cobra, after numerous failed coups, with some loyal followers and starting up his own group, and that would be the Coils.
So I think this Neo-Vipers from RoC will work great as Serpentor's Coils. They look the part to pair up nicely with him. I'll have Mindbender tag along with Serpentor, CC is more into robotics and cybernetics then genetics these days, and have the Neo-Vipers have some genetic enhancements.

Didn't think I was going to meet my "two-profiles-a-day" goal today. Scalded my pen/tablet hand while cooking. Fortunately (or as fortunate as one can get while getting burned), it was the back of my hand that bore the brunt of the heat, so I'm okay as far as holding a digital pen goes.
Anyway, today's daily updates: Sneak Peek and Steam-Roller design notes: - For Sneak Peek's face, I used a recent photograph of Owen King (youngest son of best-selling novelist Stephen King and now a published author himself). As most of you reading this undoubtedly know, Owen King's name and likeness were used on the original Sneak Peek filecard and card art printed in 1987. The younger King (who was around 8 years old at the time) was apparently a huge fan of the ARAH toys, and his dad managed to convince Hasbro executives to use Owen's name and likeness as a gift for his kid (which is right up there as far as getting gifts go for an 8 year old kid in the 1980s. The only thing that would top that would be getting a working hoverboard). The King family's collaboration with Hasbro didn't end there... Stephen King ended up writing the filecard for Crystal Ball as well. The real Owen King ended up going to Vassar College, a fact reflected in the new updated filecard I wrote for the character. - I almost slapped myself while compositing the Steam-Roller image. I'd been wondering why he had "dog" written on his hat and it was only now, over two decades after the action figure was first released, did it click in place for me. The "Dog" label on his baseball cap is a take-off/spoof of the "Cat" (as in Caterpillar Heavy Equipment) baseball caps that construction and earth-moving equipment operators occasionally wear. Of course, unlike Hasbro, I don't have to worry (I think) about trademark infringement so I went ahead and gave him a Cat baseball cap, the way I suppose it was originally meant to be. As always, their filecards can now be read by clicking on the Filecard Project link in my signature. Last edited by zuludelta; 06-03-2009 at 10:30 PM.. Reason: Pictures updated |

Steam Roller just looks weird without a shirt. You might want to give him a shirt. OSHA wouldn't allow him to work without one on, so in this case I think it would be okay to take reality over figure.
Like how Sneak Peek had a "combat swimming" course. Love Steam Rollers card. Great job.

Working on the Sneak Peek image and filecard, something occured to me: don't you guys think it was particularly cruel of Hama to "kill off" Owen King? Or was it done on the orders of Hasbro, who didn't want any possible copyright/legal complications from having a character that was actually based on a real person (after all, didn't the filecards used to say that the names referred to fictional people?). |

He does sort of look like Gung-Ho's gay lover with his chest out there. I'll give it a day or two and see how I feel about the idea of giving him a shirt.

Sneak Peek is damn near perfect. Steam Roller I always thought would be bigger.
Like this guy. Rip your Frikkin' Arms off huge. Then he can wear what ever he damn well pleases. |

Sometimes you gotta stray from the original figure, and this is definitely one of them. A wifebeater or a sleeveless t-shirt should do the trick. I like it otherwise. For a guy known as the dude with the periscope, Sneak Peek almost looks cooler than he should. Nice work. |

Went ahead and added a shirt to Steam-Roller. It does look better, or at least more plausible. At least now he doesn't look like he just stepped out of the PumpJack Pub
