I love both of these. I actually like the older face on Claymore. He always had a real seasoned vibe to him, and I think trying to adhere *exactly* to the look of the old head would be a mistake since it's really Footloose's head (and he'll probably get the younger face + pornstache). Hit n Run is great too. Nice to see you're using more Multicam based camo patterns to mix things up. Last edited by Master Thespian; 06-03-2009 at 09:09 AM.. |

So zulu, out of all the file cards you've created which Joe has the most specialty training? Is there any one that stands out as being the complete soldier? And have you done a file card for SE?

EDIT: I've bumped Claymore's rank up to Major to match with the organizational document. I don't know why I ha dhim pegged as a captain this whole time. It's this damn heat and all the bikini top-clad women strutting on the street outside my window . Quote:

I had a Snake-Eyes filecard and image which I posted months back, but I wasn't really happy with it. I'm still working out the details of the role I'll have him playing on the team (being mute wll by necessity keep him from a field leadership role or any other position that requires significant two-way verbal communication, I think). So Claymore is a Capt now? You had him as a Maj in the Org structure. But he still looks good as Bronson. There are only so many mugs that say, "I mean business!" Clint Eastwood and John Wayne come to mind as well.
It's makes me think of all those actors I thought would make good Joe characters. Sean Connery Robert DeNiro Harrison Ford Steve McQueen would make a good Gen Rey Samuel L. Jackson was born to play the role of Stalker Charlton Heston as Joe Colton Growing up before the DDP issues I always pictured Claymore as a Clark Gable, but he has since become less debonair to me and more Burt Reynolds. Gregory Peck and Errol Flynn seem like a couple of Flyboys to me. But hey you haven't even touched Cobra yet! Last edited by Loose Cannon; 06-03-2009 at 12:00 PM.. Reason: Just read your edit about Claymore's rank |

I actually can't wait to start on the Cobra guys. So much more potential to just go crazy with the designs. Working on the Joes is great of course, but working within the constraints of contemporary military looks can be a little same-y after a while. I've already sketched out a half-dozen Viper designs and I'm raring to re-write the Cobra corporate organization's structure: I've been reading on Enron lately, and I think what I'm going to do is make Cobra a cross between Enron and Blackwater/Xe, with Fred I as the "puppet" public face and CEO of the company, a cross between Jeffrey Skilling and Erik Prince, with Cobra Commander an almost-mythical figure that no one (not even GI Joe) is sure even exists, directing things from the shadows. Destro would probably be the company's COO (Chief Operating Officer) and senior vice president in charge of the Military Armaments Research Sciences division. The Crimson Twins could be executive vice presidents in charge of the Extensive Enterprises division. I'm really enjoying re-working the Cobra organization as a proper for-profit private military contracting company, which would make it a perfect counterpoint for something like the Joe team. But back in the day, I always imagined quintessential 1970s/1980s ninja/samurai character actor Sho Kosugi playing Storm-Shadow. They should've just gotten his son Kane Kosugi to play Storm-Shadow in the new film. |

If you think about it. A small army (relatively speaking, in comparasion to the total US or Russian Armies) like Cobras could never hope to take over the world, no matter what technology they have. Eventually, all the world's powers would organize to stop them (similar to what happened to Germany in WW2). So having them as an organization that tries to "rule" thru power (money and control) instead of actual physical conquest is the way to go. My reinvented Cobra is more of a shadow organization. They're behind all the various uprisings, terrorist activities and wars all over the world. They sometimes even back both sides. The goals are unclear, is CC a "one worlder" or is he after something else. The idea would be the Joe's intelligence unit tries to ferret out the motives and locations of CC and his "Coils" (the inner circle: Baroness, Destro, etc..) well the Joe's direct action units work to stop his various plots.

There he is. Rock'n'Roll buddy and the only way he gets to wear a beard. Don't switch him to Special Forces, just as soon as I saw the face that's what popped in my head.
