Falcon, and an updated Rock 'n' Roll:
design notes: - Falcon was made using Don Johnson's face. As much as I hated how he was portrayed in the 1987 animated film, Don Johnson's is now the definitve Falcon voice (way better than the whiny teen voice they used in the DiC cartoons). - So far, I've been using the ACU camouflage pattern as an updated subsititute for the olive and forest greens of the original Army figures. So how to make Falcon stand out from his be-camouflaged brethren? I ended up using Multicam patterned BDUs as an update to his tiger-stripe look. The Multicam pattern was the runner-up in the competition to choose a new multi-purpose camourflage pattern for the Army and it's still in limited use by SOCOM personnel (who can choose to wear Multicam or any other commercial-off-the-shelf camo over the Army standard ACUs). It's not necessarily "worse" than the ACU, in fact, it rated better than the ACU in woodland and grassland environments but Army brass went with the less saturated ACU because it fit the immediate needs of the Army, what with its large contingent committed to operations in the Middle East. As always, the filecards can be accessed by clicking on link below in my signature. |

I LOVE THAT ROCK N ROLL. Seriously. This is what was in my mind's eye for him, but I didn't want to get out of my place. The bushier beard, the ammo, the sunglasses and the backwards cap were the four design choices I was really hoping for initially (because they represent not only his original and second version looks, but a cooler, more relaxed vibe that never crossed from filecard over to appearance). Fantastic.
Falcon is the bee's knees as well. Great job on making him stand far away from your Flint redesign. I like the young face you gave him, so that even if it was two headshots of the characters, we would still know which was which. |

So I know most of us, the first impression was the look of the figure.
So if they made 'em look like Zulu's.. Would anyones "favorites" change?

As I've already told him via PM, his project is basically now my Joe. I'm not too thrilled with IDW's offering (if they weren't going to go more realistic, I would have preferred the old continuity), and since rediscovering Joe in 2002, I've viewed the team by what they could have been in the real world, not what they were in the comics.

I really want a Big Lob based on Zulu's design.

There he is. Rock'n'Roll buddy and the only way he gets to wear a beard. Don't switch him to Special Forces, just as soon as I saw the face that's what popped in my head. |
