No I'm not saying he was in Vietnam the whole time, just the service. He probably did three tours at most, and yes the grade is problematic but perhaps he made E6 and got demoted for pulling some outlandish SE stunt.

Yeah, if Lucas got his hands on it, Cobra Commander would actually be SE's father and Scarlet his sister. Duke would have been assembled and stitched up from Viet Cong parts!

I dont' think it was intended, I think they just did some "nods" to the cartoon. Welcome to the thread.

As for their participation in the TET offensive, that's probably the one bit of canon I'd personally leave out, just because it causes the biggest inconsistency. I'd buy Duke being there, maybe Wild Bill. But, for me, the other guys seem like they'd be a touch too young. |

Although the comic books and novels for Star Wars are VERY good at keeping one continuity.

It was the "nods" that made me think it was an "unoffical" continuation to the show. I never considered the Dic seasons to be official myself... would that bump my list to 10? :p |

I think the problem is that Hama never worked the timelines out. He was giving a set of characters to work with in '82 and then eventually had to fill in the back story after the fact.
Remember, Joe came out, but there was no gurantee it was going to be a huge hit, so why bother working out all this stuff in the past? Stalker was the team's top sargeant and he was an E-6 in '82. Now Joe becomes popular and now Hama has to fill in the blanks as best he can.

Don't forget Shipwreck and possibly Torpedo since he seems to be the same age. As well as Payload, probably Keel-Haul, Joe Colton, and I'd add Repeater as well. With 20 yrs in by 88, most likely a vet. Yes Spirit was there.

Hasbro never has kept a good and firm continuity lock on it's properties (Transformers is just as messed up, if not more so, as Joes). That's one thing can give Lucas' people credit for. They have kept a fairly tight rein on Star Wars.

Breaker would have been in 'Nam. Wasn't there something in his filecard about some Cambodian mission or group thing?
