Still Like Troy is saying even though Major Altitude is not part of the new Ripcord/Altitude/Freefall bastardization his lot is cast with that mess because they can't have both. Although they had both released one year apart in 90/91!?!
But let's face it Major Altitude is a terrible codename when 1. You're not a Major 2. They just released a guy with a nearly identical codename a year prior 3. Why didn't someone make you pick something else? |

Trying to reconcile the existing Joe timeline can you give you a real headache. It's probably best to kind of use what's been established as an outline and fill in the blanks ourselves.
Off the top of my head, I figure Snake Eyes' life roughly like this. Born in 1953. Enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1971. Served three tours. Discharged in 1974. Informed by Hawk that his family was killed. Studies with Arashikage clan from 1974-78. Lives in seclusion in the Sierras from 1978-81. Recruited by Hawk and Stalker in early 1981. Suffers the accident that leaves him scarred and mute. Last edited by Tanksmasher; 06-02-2009 at 01:44 PM.. |

I tend to view him as joining in 71 as well, and spending a lot of time in Cambodia running MACVSOG ops for the CIA. This gives us as young a SE as possible. Still to reinvent Snake-Eyes to be about a 34 year old would make him miss the First Gulf war. I think they had this problem with Flint, and Beachhead and Outback. They wanted to give them real world experience but the US was not involved in anything major except Grenada and Panama, but these were over in a weekend. Then only Delta Force and SEALS are getting any action. I'm not sure what action Special Forces was getting between wars. |

As for Stalker, he must have left the military some time after the war as well, and got reinstated with SE. Maybe he went back to gangbanging on the streets with his military training and combat experience, except he fought against his old hoodlum pals in an attempt to clean up the city.

It's not worth the time and money, honestly. Especially that Joe has about 8 seperate continuities. The original filecards reference the comic AND the cartoon, so which cards are "right"? Would the VvV cards count, or the Sigma 6 stuff? Star Wars and Star Trek both have the benefit of having only one timeline to worry about (When Lucas isn't getting his mitts all over it), GI Joe has: 1. RAH Comic series (Optionally, you can add the DDP run to this) 2. The Sunbow/Dic cartoon 3. Sigma 6 4. GI Joe Extreme 5. Sgt. Savage 6. Rise of Cobra 7. IDW's comic series 8. GI Joe vs. Transformers (I wouldn't count this one, personally) 9. Resolute (Technically a continuation of the Sunbow series, but more likely it's own seperate entity) If we base it purely on the original comic, than the Cobra La figures make no sense, AND we'd have an official crossover with Transformers, (Makes me kinda wish there as a 1:18th scale Starscream). I'd rather ignore the whole Ninja Force fiasco, myself. I plan on using the new 7 Pack Ripcord as the Original Ripcord, and ignoring his new filecard, since I think I have the old one buried in my attic somewhere. RoC Ripcord will be a new Joe that I'll slap a new name onto. (actually, most of the RoC figures are gonna get this treatment) Female Dialtone resides in the Resolute universe, so she has no bearing on my Joe 'Verse. If she gets a figure, she might be a good stand in for Firewall from DDP, which I plan on using the Helix figure for. Although if they DID want to hire a fact checker, I do have a BA in History, and therefore am well trained in reseach and cross-checking. :p |

What I'd like to reimagine is that Stalker and SE ran into Duke at some time during their tours in Nam. Perhaps they briefly met Claymore, Gung-Ho, Leatherneck and Snow Job as well.

For fun I'd like to write a short story of their time in Nam, so I'm just trying to include as many 80s Joes as possible. Wild Bill, perhaps. Recoil? Mainframe? Sgt Slaughter?

Yeah but some of those dates don't match up with what Hama wrote and he's the only real authority to refer to. I'm thinking he and Stalker would have to have enlisted in 1967 at least, around the same time Duke did in order to take part in the TET offensive. He probably left the military in 1976 as an E5 and "Colonel" Hawk was a Lt Col (not a fullbird yet) at the time, and then he spent two or three years in Japan, and then two more years or so living in the mountains, and gets reinstated as an E5 in 1981 and gets injured.

That's how it would be if George Lucas got his hands on the Joe-verse. Everybody knows everybody in a galaxy far, far away.
