Cross-Hair was a great figure. Lots of cool accessories and a good character. He also became the "official sniper" for Tiger Force and Night Force. His uniform was always pretty good.
I guess I never really "fell in love" with the character because... A. He came out after I was an adult B. He wasn't Low-Light... I mean, seriously, who did Cross-Hairs think he was? Low-Light should have been the Night Force Sniper; everyone knows that! ;)

So if you were going to think about Sniper Teams for Cross-Hair and Hollow-Point, who would you choose.
For Hollow-Point, I think I would go with Mainframe. He's a fellow Marine. He's got Combat Infantry Experience, and he's a communications expert. For Cross-Hair, I don't know. And of all of them besides Low-Light, he's the most "traditional" sniper figure. I feel like he needs a spotter. I've read his file card; maybe Ambush. They're both experts in concealment and they're both from Massachusetts. I don't know... just an idea. We've talked about using Ambush as a spotter before. What do y'all think?

Always thought Sci-Fi would make for a good spotter/back-up sniper.

Bull Horn, being a hostage negotiator, seems like the kind of guy who would work as an urban sniper. Maybe Bull Horn and Sci-Fi would make a good sniper team?

For me Spotters would have to include:
Ambush Spirit Sci-Fi RedSpot Bullhorn maybe. But hollowpoint, lowlight, barrel roll, crosshairs is it for snipers. Not including Sonic Fighter "Sharpshooters." or Claymore. Last edited by Loose Cannon; 05-29-2009 at 09:26 PM.. |

I remember "Inside Delta Force" talked about how most of the big guys washed out, and what was left were the unassuming medium- and smaller-sized guys.

For urban snipers I use Mayday, Bullhorn is primary a negotiator, but he'll back-up Mayday and be her spotter if there's no negotiating to do. I wouldn't use Mainframe as Hollowpoint's spotter because his primary role is computers and such. It would be a waste of his main talents to put him in a spotters role. Crosshair and Ambush work good. So that just leaves Hollowpoint and yet again, more evidence that there just isn't enough Marines on the team.

Makes sense. Big guys create an instant impression and seem more dangerous. But they're also slower (or can be) and not that agile.

So E-6 is the minimum to try out for Delta? I wondered about that because in Bowden's book, he says that 120 Rangers were invited to interview for Delta and only 13 were chosen. That made me wonder what ranks were trying out. If E6 is the min, then that's a lot of senior NCOs.
Also, in Black Hawk Down, according to Bowden, there are PFCs in the Ranger units who had not been to Ranger School yet. This struck me as odd. Why are the PFCs fighting in the Ranger unit when they haven't even been to Ranger School yet? When do Ranger candidates usually attend Ranger School and do they fight normally fight alongside Ranger before they attend Ranger school? |
