Oliver, you mentioned that Flint and Duke were green berets. Is this mentioned in the comics? Also, what about Stalker? He's a ranger and he wears a green beret?

I've always had questions about that character. What do you know about Sabretooth? Was there ever a file card produced? Are there any prototype figures floating around out there? I think Wreckage was sort of an homage to that character. Sabretooth would have been such a good name for an exclusive Tiger Force figure.
Speaking of weird Tiger Force Figures... does anybody else put "Tiger Paw" with Tiger Force as the marital arts expert of the team. I know, I know they already have Jinx, but c'mon. Also, I use my original Claymore with Tiger Force because his outfit is crazy and it fits best with that team. What do you guys think of that? I have three other custom Claymores that I use for other missions. I feel like there was more than just the one ad I saw 20 years ago, But Gunslingrcbr made a pretty sweet custom card for his. SABRE TOOTH It seems to go with what I remember. Go to the other site in the preproduction archives and under 1988 there should be some stuff in there on Sabretooth. |

1. A new MOS - 18 series. Special Forces is it's own branch in the Army. If they were Infantry (11), or Cavalry (19), or Intelligence (96), or Artillery (12), or whatever - they're new MOS is Special Forces (18) 2. Placement in a new unit - the new SF soldier will be assigned to one of the the Special Forces Groups. 3. The Special Forces Tab - Also called the "Long tab". It goes on the left shoulder above any other tabs (including Ranger and Airborne). The only tab that goes above an SF tab is the very rare "Presidents' 100" tab, which is for marksmen. The SF tab sets a soldier apart. 4. The Green Beret - upon graduating from the JFK SWTC, the soldier has earned the right to wear the coveted Green Beret. Now, some SF qualified soldiers will move on to different units in their career. No matter where they go, or what unit they're with, they are authorized to wear the SF tab and the Green Beret as a part of their uniform. Both Flint and Duke and listed as Special Forces in their file cards. Flint is mentioned as Special Forces in every file card he's ever had, v1 Duke is listed as having "went Special Force in '68" and running several Special Forces Schools in Vietnam. Note: Special Operations is different than Special Forces. Special Forces is a type of Special Operation; SF falls under U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC). USASOC - HQ at Ft. Bragg (list of units) Special Forces - All Groups (1,3,5,7,10, 19, 20) - the Green Berets 75th Ranger Regiment (includes cadre at Ranger School) 160 Special Operations Air Regiment (SOAR) 4th Psy Ops Group 96th Civil Affairs SOSCOM - Special Operations Support Command Delta Force and the Intelligence Support Activity are also under USASOC, but are not officially acknowledged to exist. Nowhere in Stalker's file cards or in the comic is he ever listed as being Special Forces Qualified. Beach-head v8 lists his SMS as 18B - that means he is a Green Beret. Stalker is a Ranger, and a LRRP, but is not a SF qualified soldier. v1 Stalker's beret color is simply wrong, as is v1 Flint's. Those two should have changed berets. In the 80's, the Ranger Regiment wore Black Berets. Stalker was not a Green Beret. He simply wore a beret that was green. However, I would submit that with Stalker's background, training, and language skills, he would be a natural choice for SF and I would love it if they made Stalker a REAL Green Beret.

Capt. DePACE, I agree with you, and I'm not trying to get involved with your argument. I've been keeping up with the discussion, and there are some very solid points being made by both sides.
I love the October Guard. I think it's awesome to have a Special Operations team from a foreign power whose objective may or may not line up with the Joe Team's. Consequently, I like having as many different Characters in the October Guard as I can get. I use Volga and Diana as separate characters. It's just nice to have another character for a team that is already so small. Preproduction: Volga |

I agree that Claymore belongs with Tiger Force because of the camo scheme. Who do you think Spearhead should go with? I tend to match him up with Desert squads.
Also, does anyone know if Tunnel Rat's weapon is real? I've tried looking it up but can't find anything that looks quite like it. I've always thought of him as a light machine gunner, but he can also play a sniper. What role do you guys typically have him play? |

U.S. Army Special Forces IS the Green Berets. It's the same thing. When a Soldier graduates from the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Training Center at Ft. Bragg, they earn 4 things...
1. A new MOS - 18 series. Special Forces is it's own branch in the Army. I use him with Night Force as their point man. If I were to use v1 Spearhead, I think the desert is a good choice based on his color scheme.
