Yeah, the RoC-style filecards are definitely disappointing from a fan aspect, but it also looks like they're using smaller and less wasteful packaging, so that's at least one positive to be gained from the switch to the new style.

They're growing on me. I like the realistic artwork for the faces. I'm more disappointed that we're losing the filecards and getting that crap that's on the back of the RoC cards.
To be honest, I never thought the original packaging was all that great and seeing it alongside newer stuff in the stores, it just didn't pop. So naw, the new packaging doesn't bother me. It's the damn filecards... |

I just think the Corps often gets the short end of the stick. The Marines should have their own Service Academy: USMCA or something like that. I mean, what is Annapolis doing to train those guys to fight like Infantrymen? I never really understood why the Navy SEALs were even a part of the Navy. I mean, let's see, The Navy needed a group of highly trained commandos for special missions that involve water... hmmm, should we start with regular sailors who get practically no combat training, or should we start with Marines who are specifically designed for amphibious warfare? Hmmm, yeah, we'll go with the sailors. Typical Navy logic. The Brits used the Royal Marines for the SBS - and the SBS is on par with DevGru. It would have made a lot more sense, to me, for the Department of the Navy to have used Marine Raiders instead of Navy UDTs as the backbone of their special operations. I mean, what can a SEAL do that a good Recon Marine can't?

Also weren't the Marines formed to be the Navy's amphibious force for landbased/water-inserted missions?

Well, I wouldn't go that far. But the baseline Marine combat and Marine infantry training is more comprehensive than the baseline Army Basic Combat Training and Infantryman Advanced Individual Training in certain aspects. For example, all Marines have to undergo annual re-qualification as marksmen on the rifle, regardless of MOS (I don't know if that's changed in recent years, though). The standards for marksman qualification in the USMC are also higher than the Army standards. And while Air Assault is an advanced training school in the US Army, helicopter-borne operations training is part of the standard rifleman training regimen.
One could say that the standard Marine rifleman, in terms of skills acquired in baseline training, is equivalent to an Air Assault and Sharpshooter-qualified Army infantryman.

Very funny, but I'll offer evidence against your claim.
Gung-Ho Leatherneck Hollow Point Granted, it's not nearly as many as there are SEALs. However, the Marines might argue that 3 Recon Marines is more than equal to however many SEALs the Joe Team has.

It's like saying, "Hey, we need some trucks. I know we've got these jeeps over here and we could use most of their parts, but I'm thinking we should start with these life boats. Yeah, we'll just make Trucks out of these life boats. Leave the jeeps alone."
