Hey Troynos, I love what you're doing with the base. I was wondering though and forgive me if you've already said this and I missed a post but...
were you planning a cover story for the base, like in the old comics where the Pitt's cover was the Chaplain's Assistant's motor pool?. I ask, because in my Joeverse, the cover story for the Pitt is that it's the base for a joint forces military band. This way, they can conveniently explain loud noises etc due to band practice, need for lots of equipment etc. I don't know too much about the US military (being Australian by way of Canada) but to me, it seems more plausible than being Chaplain's Assistants. The team already has a large roster of bandsman; Thunder (Drums) Shockwave (Choir) Depth Charge (Glockenspiel) Crazy Legs (Piano) and Rock n Roll and Budo are guitar players according to their file cards. So I need to come up with a good cover story for this large airbase in the middle of nowhere.

Two new images/filecards: Payload & Slipstream I tried and I tried, but I just couldn't come up with a reasonable motivation for an astronaut to have a full-time position on a joint special operations team like my conception of GI Joe. In the end, I changed Paylaod to an operations management/planning officer with a background in special operations aviation. Had to resort to a little internet-fu to access the current Joint Special Operations University course list for O-4s and above, but it was worth it, and I'm happy with how the filecard came out. It was a little easier to transition Slipstream... fighter jets aren't normally part of special operations aviation (none of the units under the USAF special operations command operate fighters) but I re-designed him as an ex-fighter jcokey who transitioned to special operations aviation flying MC-130 transports. I still had him wear a g-suit over his flight suit in the image above, though, even if MC-130 pilots don't normally wear them, because it's the only way I could work in the "chaps" from the original toy design. Just think of it as a picture of him from his fighter pilot days Oh, and before you guys ask, that's not Sean Penn's face on Slipstream's head. It's an Armenian-American actor whose name I forget. As always, their full filecards can be accessed by clicking on the Filecard Project link in my signature. |

Who's Payload's face? I love how you gave him gray hair. Nice touch.
I recognize Slipstream but not sure who it is... Yeah, I like the Area 51 vibe, but also don't want something that would make Cobra and others go "hhhmm"

Nice work on both of these. I was sure you were going to use that McFarlane inaction figure for Ace, but you used it for Slipstream instead. Now I'm wondering what you've got cooking for the first Joe pilot.

I'll probably go with a relatively unadorned flight suit, similar to what MC-130 pilots actually wear. The original Ace figure wasn't wearing a g-suit, in fact, it looked like he was wearing a "space suit" more than anythng else, so I'll have him kitted out more or less like Payload, just to keep a consistent translation relationship. I'll probably jazz it up a bit to make him look a bit more distinct, though.

You guys see the Resolute Scarlett prototype that was posted today (among other things)? I really hope Hasbro puts these out - I'm going to be really disappointed if we don't get the Resolute figures we've seen so far.

I don't like the head sculpt on the Scarlett. But the outfit is kick-ass.
Yeah, I hope to see the Resolute, but having this Scarlett ruins my thought of seeing 'em in a DVD 5-pack. We had Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow (pivotal scenes) and Roadblock/Baroness/Destro (pivotal scenes). Perfect for a 5-pack to go with the movie. Now we have a potential Scarlett as well.... What about the Roc Flash? I like that figure alot. Not sure how I"ll incorporate it, but it's a cool figure. Thought for sure that was going to be RoC Charbroil, but works as a Flash as well.

He does look pretty cool - I like the outfit. I hope the weapons aren't as cheap as they look - they just look like they're cheap plastic and easily bendable to me.
