So finished up the Garage/Maintenance/Fueling building. I had screwed up last night when working on it and had set the building 1 foot lower then the rest of the complex, so I had to go thru and adjust the roads leading to it. No way I was going to redo the whole thing. Those damn gas pumps were a pain in the ass.
Now comes the biggest and hardest part of the base, the hanger complex. I need a Skystriker Hanger, a Conquest Hanger, a Stealth Hanger, helicopter landing fields, place for the C-130s, fueling, pilots area and control tower. The pilots area will be the ready room, the locker rooms, the pilots barracks, rec rooms and officer offices.

Oh, and here's my take on Keel Haul: design notes: - His look was inspired by the original toy and and Captain Gloval from Robotech/Macross (one of my favourite shows growing up). - The jacket he's wearing is a Navy Aviator G1 jacket (colloquially referred to as a "bomber jacket"), which had its origins in World War II and is still issued to naval pilots and navigators to this day (on a related note, I've always wondered why the 1986 version of Hawk was issued one). - the original toy design had him wearing a white combination cover (the "cop hat"). I changed it to a khaki one to match his khaki uniform. - sticklers for uniform accuracy will note that his hat no longer has the "scrambled eggs" on the visor. That's because I've designated him a lieutenant commander in his filecard, and not an admiral as he was originally designated in the ARAH toyline. To see all the other changes I made with the character, check out his filecard in the Filecard Project album (link is found in my signature). I kept the character's origins as a qualified fighter pilot, but pretty much remade him from the ground up specialty-wise (I'm biased, of course, but I think he's much cooler with the training and schooling I've ascribed to him). Neat looking pumping station. Can't wait to see the flight hangars.

What's that plane in the beginning of Transformers? The gunship?

I think so. I'm unfamiliar with the actor... I just googled "manly moustache" and his face was one of the first hits to surface.
It's an AC-130U, to be specific. I always thought that a "realistic" Joe team would have an AC-130H or AC-130U named "Phantom," since it sort of follows the ghost-themed naming convention for AC-130 Air Force models (the AC-130H is nicknamed "Spectre,"the AC-130U is nicknamed "Spooky"). Nice update on Keel-Haul. Makes sense to not have him be an Admiral, too close in rank to Hawk and Colton (could even outrank Hawk). Most of his appearances in the comics he wasn't doing admiral duties anyways.

So yeah, there'll be an AC-130 at Fort Hama, was able to find a model at Sketch-Ups 3D Warehouse. Thank god for that, I don't know what I'd do if didn't have all these vehicles already done for me.

Also seems like an AC-130 would be an aircraft the Joes would have access to. There could be a ton of usages the Joes could find for it. One of them could be similar to what happened in Transformers (just replace the scorpion robot with a Cobra armored division.

I'm wondering how many hangars you need for the Airfield. Or only the Top Secret ones. You probably have one as a maintenance Hanger. Will you have only one of each plane? Skystiker Conquest '86, '98, '03 Vector Phantom X-19 (Should be in a Hanger) Tiger Rat Night Boomer Mudfighter Sky Raven (In a hanger) Storm Eagle Ghost Striker X-16 A-10 thunderbolt (1997 rattler) Skysweeper (Hanger) Thunderwing I'm just listing them all. I'm just wondering which ones you're using, and how many. What about helicopters do they have a separate area? What about Skyhawks? I know you like those. Will the large playsets make an appearance? I can't imagine how you design the MCC or the General. or the Defiant Complex? |
