Oh that one's easy: he got there like every other Colonel... by kissing up to some General. ;)

So this brings up a question.
How do you store your Joes? Loose, do you store them as "teams"? Or one big box? Mine are just in tackle boxes, 1 figure per box. The 25th Joes are divided between Joes and Cobras. My original vintage are divided between Joes and Cobras, going in alphabetical order by year. Anything I've gotten off EBay is just put in a case as I get them.

I got about 15 shoe boxes or slightly bigger boxes
The 25th stuff is in one Joe and 2 cobra boxes. Then for all the vintage stuff I have I have 6 and 6. I had broken them out into Teams by commanders and Function. Iron Grenadier Forces are mixed in with Cobra. Serpentor/Overlord/Gen Mayhem/Hannibal (Armor/Fast Attack) Cobra Commander/Voltar/Cesspool/Interrogator/Maj Bludd/ Storm Shadow (Infantry/Artillery) Destro/Baroness/Wild Weasel (Air Forces) Zartan/Anaconda[CCV4 cobra admiral]/Venomous Maximus[I use him as a failed clone for Serpentor but who Serpentor treats as a brother] (Cobra Island/Navy/Jungle/Half the Dreadnoks) Tomax/Xamot/Destro Jr/Zarana/Black Mamba/Headman (Urban) Dr. Mindbender/Black Dragon/M. Bison/Tsang-Tsung/ Golobulus[Cobra figured out that Golobulus can be taken out by Lysol now he bows to them](Arctic/R&D) AKA the box I hardly open For Joes basically the same break downs: Armor/Fast Attack Infantry/Artillery Air Forces Navy/Jungle/Marines Urban Arctic/H I have another 3 shoe boxes of weapons and one slightly larger bin Last edited by Loose Cannon; 05-20-2009 at 04:42 PM.. |

Probably because the only way in hell you could get this toy was if Santa Claus brought it to you. I never owned it and I didn't even ask for it. I got the MCC though which came out the same year. This was also the same year my parents stopped buying me Joes and I had to buy my own from then on. 87s?

So what do you guys think the problem with Joe in Space was? I mean, Hasbro really tried to make it work with the Defiant, and the Crusader, and Star Brigade...
Don't get me wrong, it didn't really interest me either... but I'm not even into Star Wars or Star Trek. A lot of boys do like SciFi, though. Why didn't that work? Quote:
I think by that point, Hasbro was starting to try and get G.I. into as many genres as possible. Outer space probably seemed like a natural step, especially from a marketing standpoint. Kids love spaceships. Star Wars was off the toy landscape by 1987, and Hasbro probably figured they could reel in some of that audience who hadn't had new Star Wars toys since 1985.

Okay, so Payload's a former bomber pilot that became an astronaut and flew a couple of shuttle missions, then the Joes "requested" that he join the team and run the Air Force.

But with Payload/ Ace/ Slipstream/ Dogfight/ Ghostrider/ Skystiker / Maverick/ and Countdown you pretty much have an Air Squadron. |

I'd just like to weigh in (I know I don't offer much on this thread, but I do read it) and say that the Defiant was so cool when I was 9 that it needed absolutely no explanation or grounding or concept. I realize now as an over-educated adult that there's absolutely no reason for even a world-wide SpecOps/SpecForce team to have its own space shuttle. But for my money that toy offered as much play possibility as the Flagg.

So yeah, the Defiant was great as a playable toy.

Okay, I'm establishing Snake-Eyes' Marvel comic book timeline for a custom figure project I'm working on with Spigou. I've pretty much got the general timeframe down, but I wanted to run this by you guys to see if there's anything I've missed or if there's conflicting information in some comics I might not have read:
1972 to 1975: Snake-Eyes' stint in Vietnam references: - GI Joe #10: Dr. Venom's brainwave scanner reveals that Snake-Eyes was on board the last helicopter out of Saigon (the fall of Saigon happened in April of 1975) - GI Joe #26: Stalker says that he first met Snake-Eyes "ten years ago." Assuming that the events of the issue occur in 1984, that would mean they met in 1974. Stalker further says that prior to their meeting, Snake-Eyes had already served two tours in-country with Storm-Shadow (the average length of an Army tour of duty during the Vietnam War was 12 months). 1975 to 1978: Snake-Eyes studies Arashikage-ryu ninjutsu in Japan references: - GI Joe #26: Soft Master recounts how Snake-Eyes went to Japan to study ninjutsu with Storm-Shadow after learning of his family's death upon his arrival in the US after the Vietnam War. - GI Joe #27: Hawk mentions that Snake-Eyes spent three years in Japan after the Vietnam War 1978 to 1981: Snake-Eyes returns to the US and lives in seclusion in the "the high sierras" (presumably somewhere in the Sierra Nevada area of California) reference: - GI Joe #27: Anonymous townsperson mentions that Snake-Eyes had been living in the high sierras for three years prior to Hawk's and Stalker's attempt to recruit Snake-Eyes. early 1981: Formation of the GI Joe team reference: - GI Joe #27: Hawk & Stalker recount the events surrounding Snake-Eyes' recruitment as one of the original 13 members of the team mid to late 1981: Snake-Eyes disfigured in helicopter accident reference: - GI Joe #27: Scarlett recounts the accident as happening an unspecified number of months after the formation of the GI Joe team. Does that timeline read okay? Last edited by zuludelta; 05-20-2009 at 08:37 PM.. |
