If I'd taken into account his work with the CIA, I would have given him a bachelor's degree in the write-up. But since his original filecard (which is my "primary source," so to speak) made no mention of any prior CIA work, I just went with what could be considered a more traditional CID educational background. I'd like to look into the aspect of him working in the CIA though, and possibly incorporate it into an updated filecard. Are there any particular issues in the comic book that explicitly showed this? All I remember of Chuckles' pre-GI Joe past was him working as a stooge for a couple of corrupt officers in the Pentagon (issue #60 of the Marvel series, I think).

When I asked Larry Hama about Chuckles specifically, he said that Chuckles was Army CID, but that he worked for CIA occasionally. CID does a lot of stuff - some of it is pretty covert. They do more than just undercover criminal investigation. Sometimes that's just a cover. They're training sometimes goes way beyond that of an undercover MP. They get tasked to NSA and DIA pretty often for special operations. It would take a very talented and well qualified CID agent to get tapped by the boys at CIA... so I figure Chuckles has to be pretty well qualified. Sorry to be anal about this, Chuckles is just one of my very favorites. I don't mean any offense. You do great work, Zuludelta.

Also, Zuludelta, I wondered what your thoughts on Falcon are? I'd be very interested to see how you handled him, and Claymore as well.

Ah, that explains why I never really saw him doing work for the CIA. I gave most of the DDP material a pass when they first came out.

No offense taken. I appreciate it when people take the time to tell me what they think works or doesn't work with the filecards or the airbrushed/altered images. |

This is purely speculation on my part, but considering that GM is selling off the Hummer brand and has no plans to make them in 2010, and that GM will most likely be bankrupt by August, I doubt there's going to be a big push of advertising the Hummer in the Joe movie. I still hope to see a Hummer or two in the line for Joes, however. And my Alley Vipers will most definitely be riding in that Cobra H2.

Filecard-wise, I've already got it written out. He's an SF captain, of course, whose accession branch is infantry. Claymore, I've got him as a major (I'm thinking he's SF, with intelligence as his accession branch). He's listed as an Officer Candidate School graduate since Dartmouth College doesn't have an associated ROTC program as far as I know. Last edited by zuludelta; 05-18-2009 at 03:27 PM.. |

My problems with Falcon, as far as the visual design is concerned, is making him look distinct enough from Flint. There are just too many similar elements: the beret, the dark brown hair, the shotgun.

His time in "Blue Light Group" is interesting. It gives him a background in counter Terrorism... possibly something equivalent to Delta Force. It is possible, however, just from Claymore's file card, that he may actually be CIA SAD as opposed to strictly SF. It sounds a lot like the MAC SOG Phoenix Program to me. I try to split the difference: I think he's Intelligence Support Activity, AKA "The Secret Army of Northern Virginia". Check them out on Wikipedia. Their Direct Action guys are as tough as anybody. And, to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if Beach-head and Stalker had Bachelors degrees as well. Beach-Head probably went to Auburn. Stalker could have gone to Univ. of Michigan or Mich. State. There was a lot of time between '94 and 2000... those guys had to do something to get into the job market.

Falcon stikes me as a West Point grad, actually. Just because of the concordance with Hawk's code name (he's like a Hawk in the making in my head).

I don't see Stalker has having gone to college. He was a gang warlord, so I think he was given the choice between jail (or dying) and the military and chose military and he's one of the ones that got fixed. I see him pushing his stepson into going to college, but I don't see him as ever having gone.
Are you thinking he went during Joe's decomissioned time?

Are you thinking he went during Joe's decomissioned time? So as a young man, you're right. Stalker had to choose between jail and the Army and he wanted to stay out of jail. But then something happened to him in Vietnam. Maybe he just grew up. But as an NCO he stated taking responsibility for himself and others. So when the Joes were decommisioned in '94, Stalker would have been walking away from Active Duty as a Senior NCO... all grown up and a responsible citizen. He already had a lot of skills and a lot of language fluency. But to be competitive in the civilian job market, he needs a degree. Univ. of Michigan in Ann Arbor is one of the best public Universities in the country, and Stalker would get in State tuition, plus the G.I. Bill. I'm sure he could get excellent letters of recommendation from a lot of Officers. A lot of Senior NCO's have Bachelors degrees, and some even have Masters degrees. So I figure Stalker, and Beach-Head (and probably a lot of other guys) went to college after '94. Why not? Mainframe did it when he first got back from 'Nam, and he went to MIT. Grunt got out and went to Georgia Tech. Certainly these Joes are smart enough. So I agree with you about Stalker when he was young, but after '94 as a Senior NCO... I think he would have taught his children by example and went to College. He could have a Masters degree in International Relations with his background. Zuludelta, I also noticed that there is no mention of Spirit's Ph.D. on his file card. That interested me very much. I like the uniform you have him. I reminds me of his Sigma 6 uniform. Did you intend to change Spirit, and not make him a psychologist anymore? If so, there in a Native American Ranger like that: Dart.
