I'm not just being anal: they've yet to release an original, unique character in the 5-packs (I don't count Night Watch or Greenshirts as unique characters), which is why I question that this is going to be one.

So this brings up a question for discussion: If Hasbro were to make a Low-Light, how would you guys like to see him represented? Would you want a faithful representation of his original uniform or would you want something different? Maybe a camo uniform? Maybe urban camo? Maybe desert or woodland camo? Would you keep the goggles? Would you keep the watch cap? I'm interested to hear your thoughts.
Also, I would really like to see Zuludelta's take on Low-Light. Has that already been done?

It does seem low, perhaps even oddly so.
Offhand, I think the Army's definition of what constitutes a light wheeled vehicle (anything less than 5000 kg) and heavy wheeled vehicles (anything above 5000 kg) stems from the types of vehicles in the Army inventory. There's really a limited range of wheeled vehicles for soldiers to train on and to use. On the one hand, you've got the HMMWVs, the Army's general purpose transports, which max out at around 4800 kg at the heaviest (the up-armored versions) and which just about anybody with a driver's license can drive with a minimal amount of familiarization. The next lightest wheeled vehicle in the standard Army inventory is the M1078 standard cargo truck, which weighs about 7500 kg dry. It makes sense for them to draw the distinction between "light" and "heavy" at 5000 kg because functionally, that's where the division of the user-base is. Every wheeled vehicle in the Army above 5000 kg in gross vehicle weight is bound to be a special-purpose vehicle that requires some sort of additional specialized training, whether it be in cargo handling and logistics (FMTVs and HEMTTs), tactical driving (such as in the case of MRAP vehicles and wheeled armored vehicles like the Stryker), or artillery (such as in the case of HIMARS trucks). I like the new Dragonfly. It's sleek and modern and apache-like. I likes it alot.
Octane, screw down the front page a couple, there's shots of it in a couple of different front page topics. The mods have it listed as Resolute but it's RoC. I like the new take on Doc. Fogger, I read it to be replacing a 5-pack with a 5-pack. But rereading it and Hasbro saying something about meeting the exclusives with TRU, you're probably right. Could be another batch of 3 SROs coming out. I'd love to see a vintage Low-Light first.

You must've missed this...

There seems to have be a pretty decent effort to get representation of different races into the line (moreso than any other toyline...like...ever). That's the only reason it seemed strange to me. For a minority group as big as hispanics/latinos have been even back in the 80's, their relatively low numbers is kinda weird. I don't think it was some diabolical decision, it just struck me as strange when I was going through the filecards a couple years back.

Sounds more like faults of the cartoon than having anything to do with revealing anything in particular. Hell, by that logic, Destro was portrayed as black on the cartoon. As for his skin tone, there are plenty of hispanics on the lighter end just the same way there are plenty on the darker side.

Actually, no, that's not what was said. They said they replaced the Viper set with another set that includes Footloose - it could be a five-pack replaced with an SRO set, as I mentioned earlier in the thread, since they're no indication that it's the same size.
I'm not just being anal: they've yet to release an original, unique character in the 5-packs (I don't count Night Watch or Greenshirts as unique characters), which is why I question that this is going to be one. Someone guessed maybe Footloose with 4 Jungle-Vipers which seems like a good possibility. Like Green colored Vipers? I've read a rumour about Jungle-Vipers, (but that could have been walmart) but I'm not sure that is new characters or just repaints. There is always the original 5 pack exclusive for toys'r'us from 1986? YOJOE.COM | Special Mission: Brazil A bitter sweet dream come true, since it would have repaints I'm not interested, wet-Suit, and Mainframe. Claymore would be my most sought after figure, but the presence of Footloose makes me wonder if he replaces Claymore. I'm not sure about Dial-Tone being the way we remebered him, as he may now be a women, but maybe not. And would Leatherneck get his correct colors? What would be the perfect way to go for Mission Brazil is using a matching Camo for Leatherneck, and Footloose, and give Claymore the same camo. And make Wet-Suit in Camo as well instead of a wetsuit. Dail-tone as a male with his original outfit or matcging camo. no Dataframe. No because I've managed to maintain a contained collection without too many new vehicles until now. This Fall may blow that up. |

I wondered about the Ripcord change too. I mean there is a major black character that is always in every incarnation of G.I. Joe, comic, cartoon, resolute cartoon, etc. that isn't mentioned in ROC and he even makes more sense in the role that is named Ripcord.= Stalker! You always see both he and Duke with "jet-packs" so, for some unknown reasoning in my little mind the jump to "accelerator suit" seems reasonable. Idk, its just a thing, the more I saw ROC's Ripcord, I kept saying to myself thats Stalker, I wonder why they changed him to Ripcord?
what is worse now is that the comics have Stalker playing this same role as Jump master. At least they were both in Resolute. |

I was buying birthday cards in Target yesterday and I saw the GIJoe ROC cards for little boys. I'm forgetting what the cards said, but inside it had 3 removable Datacards.
One for Snake-Eyes Name, Rank, Weapon Choice, Role all Classified. One for Scarlett, she was listed as E-5 One for Duke and he is listed as 0-4(Major) The movie adaptation Comics seem to show him as a First sgt. so I'm confused. I saw the figure previews that show him as a Major so I was expecting it, but I was expecting them to maybe change it as well. |
