Troynos, really nice work on the base design. That's coming along nicely and I can tell you've put a great deal of effort into it.
By the way, guys. I recently read "Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfield. It's a historical novel about the Spartans. Seriously, check it out. It was a great book. It got me thinking: "Spartan" would be a great codename for a Joe. Steven Pressfield, who happens to be a fellow Blue Devil, is also a former U.S. Marine. As many of you know, I have been advocating a Marine Officer character for some time. "Spartan", a Marine Officer who was trained at the Citadel, could be a great character. He could even have a Greek ancestry and a Greek last name in his file card. Let me ask you guys a question, maybe this is more of a pure file card issue: Who is tougher, the Crimson Guard or the Iron Grenadiers?

Troynos, some pages ago, you mentioned that Blizzard was the only Joe from your State, New Hampshire. Believe me, I understand your frustration. However, as I have commiserated with other fans from One-Joe States, if he's your only Joe representative, he's not a bad one to have.
I have always favored Blizzard among the cold weather Joes. Even over Snow Job, Blizzard has always been my favorite. I always thought his gear was really cool, and the mold of the figure was great. I think he makes a Great 1SG for my Cold Weather Joes (Lt. Sub-Zero is the Commander). And his helmet wasn't that bad... way cooler than some furry hood you can't remove. Like Frostbite, if Blizzard is a tough enough guy that as an Arctic trooper he was still selected for Tiger Force, he must be some kind of tough soldier. So even though I understand the frustration of only having one Joe to represent your State, Blizzard is not a bad one to have. I mean seriously, what if all you had was Scoop or Airtight?

I'd say the Crimson Guard, at least in terms of mental/psychological toughness. It would be one seriously dedicated person who'd be willing to undergo reconstructive surgery in service to a cause he/she believes in. I've worked with post-reconstructive surgery patients before (burn patients and those who receive facial surgery for disfiguring conditions, not people looking for nose jobs and collagen lip injections) and there's something to be said about the emotional and psychological stress that they encounter everyday looking in the mirror and seeing a face that they don't necessarily recognize as "theirs."

When I was a kid and even now, I am proud that Airtight was from not just my state, but my town, and he even collected plastic dinosaurs just like me. BTW, there are a could others from CT too, so he isn't a one hit wonder.

The vehicle qualifications entry just represents what vehicles they are fully "mission-qualified" for. What that means is that they'll not only be able to drive said vehicles, but be able to do full first-echelon and some second-echelon field maintenance on them. So a guy like Stalker, for example, would be able to drive vehicles in excess of 5000 kg (the army's definition of a heavy wheeled vehicle) with a regular driver's licence (depending on the jurisdiction), but that doesn't necessarily mean he's a "mission-qualified" heavy wheeled vehicle operator (there's a key difference between being a qualified/licenced driver and a mission-qualified operator). Oh, and Lifeline's vehicle qualifications aren't low in the filecard I wrote... I wrote that he was a mission-qualified operator for heavy wheeleed vehicles (vehicles in excess of 5000 kg/11023 lbs... he'd have to be that to be a paramedic prior to enlistment.
Anyway, thanks for bringing it up, as it allows me to elaborate on something that may not be so clear to some people reading the filecards. I am a professional civilian truck driver, and permitted legally to drive multi-wheeled vehicles up to 25,999 GVR with my regular license. 26,000 and up goes CDL B, Tractor trailer CDL A and so forth. I can drive a tractor trailer, but it would be illegally as I do not have a CDL A. I do not doubt that any random soldier could drive a JEEP, HUMVEE, a 10 wheel cargo truck (ie the Mercedes in Raider of the Lost Ark), but would still require supervised instruction to be permitted to check one out at the motor pool. Kind of akin to getting forklift certification. The test is a joke, but you need the card for OSHA. I agree that the establihed drivers (Clutch, Crankcase, etc..) probably have more training and a higher rating to drive other vehicles. Just like you folks who were in the military feel you need your facts straight, to me as I deal with this everyday, the odd rating just reads as weird.

I understand where you are coming from. All I am saying is that I feel the weight rating is low.

Thanks for bringing this important point up, guys.

My home State gets Roadblock, but he's from Biloxi, which is nowhere near my hometown. Alabama gets Beach-Head, he's from Auburn which is very close to Ft. Benning. I'm just saying it's cool have a Commando-type of Joe to represent your State. The Combat Support and Combat Service Support Joes are great, and would make a wonderful secondary State representative, but when you only get one... Yeah, you're right. Seems like there is at least one other guy from CT, but isn't it a cold weather vehicle driver?
