On a related note, I always wondered what the original Airtight toy was equipped with. I figure it was some kind of probe or decontaminant agent dispenser or something, but I don't remember reading the equipment list on the side of the card bubble (I must have torn it or something taking the figure out).
EDIT: YoJoe.com isn't that much mroe helpful. It lists Airtight's accessory as a "black weapon/rifle of some sort"

That was a somewhat odd design choice. Still better than the design they went with for Sigma 6 Tunnel Rat though, in terms of maintaining a thematic link to the source character. Don't get me wrong... I think the Sigma 6 Tunnel Rat design looks halfway-decent, especially in animation, but he just doesn't exude that Tunnel Rat look and feel for me (too many departures from the original colour palette and the "lines" of the original design).

Hey Zulu, I was looking through the Filecard project and I was noticing that ZAP doesn't have any of his Engineering background and Bazooka doesn't have that EOD qualifier either.
It's really not necessary with the set up of your teams, just curious. Zap has had to pull out his demolitions/EOD talents before. Bazooka is just a big dummy. |

Troynos I thought of a role for the Resolute Troopers. I just order 4 from HTS. But to make them different I thought of calling them Cobra Marshalls. Like US Marshalls, they do a little bounty hunting, or kidnapping in their case. Cobra Commander likes to role with them because they are resourceful, ruthless, smart, and most of all fearless.

I have 'em set up as a 4-man squad. 3 blue troopers, 1 red trooper as squad leader and the red officer is a captain/LT type that would oversee a couple of squads. I want to outfit 'em with: 1-communications set up 1-bazooka's rocket and back-pack 1-M60 1-grapple line I'm not sure what role they should serve. I like the Marshall idea. Was going to use 'em as a Cobra SWAT but then what do the Alley-Vipers do?

In any event, I have him listed as a graduate of Ranger School, and Ranger School graduates are already tac-op qualified in the use of attack munitions/explosives. With Bazooka, I subsitituted the EOD training mentioned in his original filecard for participation in the Sapper Leader Course. The Sapper Leader Course is a leadership course (similar to Ranger School) designed to train combat engineer, infantry, and cavalry scout NCOs in conventional and expedient demolitions (including some tactical EOD training), troop leading, airborne operations, mountaineering, and specialized tactical engineering techniques. In retrospect, I should probably throw in the Sapper Leader Course in Zap's filecard as well, just as a nod to the original Zap being a combat engineer. |

Well that makes more sense anyway, so why bother. I really didn't know about the Sapper Leader course or the tac-op qualifications of Ranger School.
I agree since being and EOD is not really their main functions it's not really needed. |

With the original 13 guys, alot of 'em covered two areas of expertise (heck, Zap was even a helicopter pilot). It was probably because Hama/Hasbro wasn't sure if the Joes would be successful enough to make more characters, so if they weren't then all the areas that Hama was concerned with would be covered.
So if going to use more then the original 13, then they don't need the secondary stuff as much. Stalker's a medic. Zap was EOD. Flash was CBR (he went to "Chemical School"). Grunt was an artillery coordinator. Short-Fuze is an engineer. Snake-Eyes and Rock 'n Roll are instructors. I'm thinking that's why Scarlett had the Marine Sniper thing going on.

I'm glad you kitted Rat up with more gear, although I kind of miss the bigger EOD vest that he had on previously. |

I believe that on the package, it was indeed called a "Sniffer". I seem to recall a letter column in the Marvel run that addressed the issue and it could check the air for poisons/toxins(?). It could also fire 5.56mm ammo, as I recall. I just don't remember the issue number.
