this is coming together nicely. any chance you'll try building it once you get it all drawn out?

It's in-scale. I'm sizing it as if it would be built. I'm trying to figure out good sizes for hangers for a Skystriker and Conquest size jets, as well as for 1 Phantom X-16 (or whatever the stealth is called). So to make one would take a helluva lot of space. Right now I'm up to 3 hangers, 1 aircraft terminal, the main building, main guardhouse, fuel pump house, jail and assorted other buildings, as well as runway space, parking areas, drive areas, and such. The hangers and runways will take up a lot of space. I'm also making sure that no roads come within 60' of the main building. That way if anything is blown up on the road it won't affect the building. I'm also thinking of making 1' deep curbs. Make it harder for vehicles to jump the curbs and ram the side of the building.

So I added the runway. It's 1000' away from the building, so I can put hangers on both sides.
It's 10,000' feet long. Used this article: "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runway#Runway_length" And the part that says: "At sea level, 10,000 ft (3,048 m) can be considered an adequate length to accommodate virtually any aircraft." Where I'm cheating and not giving the base a location, I'll go with the "sea level" and since the Joes will be landing everything from Conquest up to C-130s, I think that "virtually any aircraft" will work. But damn it's long..

Man that's impressive. Can't wait to see it all come together. I wish there was a way I could get you some actual installation information without breaking OPSEC.

So here's one of the side. You can see one of the rooftop helipads in the back. This shows one of the typical rooftop security entrances. There are guards patroling all the rooftops (I'll probably add equipment, radar and such, as well as some rooftop AA stations). There are 2 doors to get thru and the security entrances are designed to explode and cause the rubble to fall in front of the main entrance.

So I need opinions. I'm thinking of adding armor plating to the walls.
The walls are concrete, about 1' thick. So I'm thinking of adding steel plating to the walls similar to the old '82 HQ has on it's walls. So here are 3 different styles of doing it. Which do you think is best. I'm leaning towards one of the ones on the ends.

Depends on how faithful you want your base to be to the cartoon version of the headquarters. My personal preference would be for a headquarters to mirror the base as described in the old GI Joe #1 (where it's basically just a typical motorpool on the surface, with all the fantastical elements deep underground), but a more cartoon-centric interpretation is great, too.

Just threw some colors on there and the armor plating.
