In Alias "Credit Dophine" (dont know about the spelling) was a front for SD-6, the evil version of the C.I.A. so I could see that with Chuckles....

My father was Army too, and he pointed out inaccuracies and other strange things to me as a kid. He was once watching "Rambo: First Blood, Part II" with me. His question was why would Rambo fire a LAW from the inside of a UH-1 helicopter with POWs in the back seats? The backblast would have probably burned those dudes up!!! But, that's okay because Rambo did destroy a communist HIND helicopter with a LAW while simultaneously rescuing the POWs. Why? Because he's Rambo, that's why!!! |

I didn't notice as many then as I do now, but yeah, some of the inaccuracies I did catch.
I read and reread these Time/Life books on weapons and warfare. Like 20 books. THey were awesome. Borrowed 'em from my school's library.

The rank bothered me too, I understood it mainly because I asked my dad and mom to explain it to me. Mom says I could read rank before I learned all of my alphabet. When I was little, my Mom would read the file cards to my brother and me, and then she would explain as best she could. Even she caught some of the mistakes: Flint's rank was one of the big ones she pointed out. I recall that she actually said once, "Well, his little card says he's a Warrant Officer, but his pay grade is listed as a Staff Sgt. I'm not sure the toy company understands the Army very well." Hasbro needs a military consultant to check some of their info.

back to our discussion earlier about possible code names for Marine characters, I thought of one today on the way to Church.
How about "Ka-Bar" like the famous fighting knives made for the Marine Corps. Obviously Hasbro would have to get permission to use the name, but I can't imagine these two great American, Pro-Military companies couldn't work something out rather easily. Also, here's a file card question: I've had a few discussins with Loose Cannon about this, and I count 9 characters in G.I. Joe who are Marines, but that may be a stretch. The 4 questionable Joes that I include are: Blast-off, Mirage, Mace, and Bull Horn. The Joes we're certain are Marines are: Gung-Ho, Leatherneck, Sgt. Slaughter, Mainframe, and Hollow Point. The question is, if you guys would be kind enough to go to yojoe.com and review the file cards and register your opinions on the 4 questionable cases: are they Marines or not? I have what I think are strong arguments for them being Marines, but Loose Cannon has brought up some excellent points against them. I would like to hear what y'all think. I think this should be a great point of file card discussion/debate. Thanks guys.

Also, can we list all the Navy and Air Force Personnel? I think that would be interesting... I still can't think of one Navy Pilot besides Keel-Haul, and certainly no Marine Corps Pilots (unless you count Hollow Point). Mainly I'm thinking of fixed wing aircraft.

Alright, I just thought of a name for an Airborne qualified Joe: "Geronimo"... maybe an Airborne Ranger; we could always use more of them. What do y'all think?

Or "Trident" for a Navy SEAL? Does that sound too much like chewing gum? Would people get it?
