i was just looking through the filecard archive and found Agent Faces. Made me wonder how many joes appear in Cobra uniforms.
Thought it would be funny if someone made a storyline where it turns out there is no Cobra just all Joes dressed up like Cobras. Faces V2 in CG gear Flint V13 in Blueshirt Shipwreck V6 w/ cape & armor Seems to me that Flint and some other guys were in CG gear too but I cant find them. Who else am i missing?

Pararescueman: Lifeline Combat Controller: Starduster Combat Weatherman: Sneak-Peek Tactical Air Controller: Dial-Tone (he even has the appropriately coloured black beret!) Air Liaison Officer (basically a specially trained fighter pilot partnered with a TAC as an adviser): Slip-Stream or maybe Ghostrider Phoenix Raven Security Force: Shockwave, Mutt, maybe Low-Light and Sci-Fi (Low-Light as a countersniper, Sci-Fi as his spotter/observer) I like all those changes except for Sneak Peek. He's a ranger and should stay attached to the Rangers and his long range recon role. Outfit has to change though. Low-Light has to remain a delta operator kind of guy, he's just too cool to use otherwise.

Some more stuff (click on the images to read the filecards): Notes: Making Duke was fairly straightforward except for choosing the face. Duke is a relatively unpopular character, I find, and I think it's because he gives off the impression of "white" blandness. GI Joe toy designers get a lot of flak (and deservedly so) for making poorly researched ethnic caricatures like Spirit and Quick-Kick, but what's often missed is that they also casted the team's enlisted leader in the typical mold of the hunky, corn-fed, blonde and blue-eyed goody-two shoes from middle America. While all those design choices don't really bother me in any real sense, it does come off as a bit lazy and uninspired. Anyway, I wanted to go with a face that carried a lot more personality and exuded experience and age, but I didn't want to make him too old. I went with the "broken-nosed boxer" look a la Jack Dempsey, a face that looks "hard" but not mean or cruel. |

I like the nod to the original gun that Frostbite came with.

I never liked Duke's "all-american boy" look. He fit the Nazi Aryan Nation pretty good. Never got that.
I like the Resolute Duke has a little less "all-american" to him.

Yeah, Duke's original design, I think, suffers from what I call the "Captain America syndrome." The designers, consciously or unconsciously, tried to make him representative of an idea and archetype (in this case, the idea of what an "All-American boy" should look like) that can hardly be contained in a fictional commercial character, which can lead to some ironically hilarious juxtapositions (i.e., Captain America becoming the ultimate expression of the the Nazi Party's vision of a blonde and blue-eyed ubermensch physically superior to all other people).
