Couldn't sleep (probably still running off of the endorphins resulting from a full day of moving furniture), so I ended up 'bashing the following re-imagined concept images of Alpine, Leatherneck, and Iceberg:

just got back from the Delaware Toy Show where i picked up a bunch of parts for some more customs. Most excited about being able to add Repeater to my desert squad and getting a lower half for that Duke/ Outback combo i posted previously.

There's never any toy shows in my area and never anything good at flea markets :(

"Modern" images of two of my favourite Joes, Dusty and Beach Head:
notes: replaced Dusty's WW2-style desert helmet with a shemagh wrap, which is what many operators working in the Middle East use as their everyday all-purpose scarf/head covering. It's breathable and lets air circulate, but is warm enough for cold desert nights. It also helps operators establish a civil and psychological rapport with the locals who wear the same wraps and scarves. Beach Head is an almost note-for-note recreation of the original design, except his woodland camo pants have been replaced with the current Army ACU pants. |

My $.02:
Flint: Looks great, but could stand to "buff up" the arms a bit. I've modernized my Flint w/ an M4 w/ the 12 gauge underneath. That gives him a rapid, longer range capability as well. With all the pouches, he definitely has room to pack some .223 ammo as well. Couldn't view the middle one. Tunnel Rat: I wouldn't change anything. I think you might have oversized his head a bit now. I don't think I'd go w/ the M1 though. How about an M-14? |

Leatherneck: The only thing I would change would be to give him an M-203 under the M4 (closer to his original weapon). Uni and gear couldn't be better. Nice work! Iceberg: I would just lighten his gear from black. Artic and black don't mix. Maybe olive green? He could also use a weapon (a bigger one)... Last edited by thunderdan19; 04-06-2009 at 10:04 AM.. |

Dusty: I get why you went w/ the scarf. I just never saw Dusty as special forces as much as desert specialist. I'd go a bit more with conventional equipment. Plus, you might trade his weapon w/ Beachhead's. Beachhead: (one of my favs, so I'll probably rattle on a bit) Nice work on the similarities to the original. I see BH as an old school kind of guy. I'd probably go w/ black boots (I know the services have gone away from that but...). I'd probably go dark weapon for him as well. This is just a tweak, but can you stretch his balaclava to cover more on his cheek. The model one there has a larger opening than I picture on BH (warned you I'm picky on BH). Otherwise, he looks great! Nice work as always!
