But does that mean you have just the 1 tank crew? I don't see the Joes having a full division of tanks, but I figure they have at least 2-3 Mobats, 2-3 Maulers. It's the artillery, armor and air elements that make Joe so hard to figure and make the need for greenshirts. If it was just the spec ops guys (rangers, SEaLs, etc..) then it would be so much easier to get a handle on.

I don't think we could ever get to the bottom of all the Logistics and supply involved with the Artillery and Air guys. But I think Green Shirts are an acceptable fill in. I suspect it all depends on how and who is getting deployed.
I love Zuludelta's team break downs Total you have 83 soldiers there. Which is an acceptable company strength. Any Joe below E-5 shouldn't even have a name. Those should be Green Shirt positions. maybe if they are part of the Ranger Element of the Joes they could be E-4s. But The vehicle drivers should be considered commanders, and would have to be NCOs with anything that required a crew of 3 or more. So Heavy Metal needs a promotion or he needs to drive Steeler's tank. As far as Artillery goes I think the joes only deploy artillery when the set up some forward base of operations on some hilltop in the middle of nowhere. Sort of like Camp Carroll and the Rockpile in Vietnam. Only way smaller. I remember in Issue #11 when the five Joes put the HQ together by themselves. I think this is a better use of the playset. Take that and Surround it by LAWs and FLAKs and Sluggers, and MMS and Whirlwinds, with Watch towers on 4 corners. Dragging the HAL around was pretty silly right from issue #1. I think that is why they moved Grand Slam to Jetpack Trooper. |

I liked the whole post, but this part stuck with me - how cool would it be if Hasbro released a Modern Era Steel Brigade figure?

I'd like to get a mail-away Steel Brigade figure but this time with an actual file card written by us, not the long sheet of paper that we got with the ARAH version. Or better, a figure that has various parts (heads, torsos, uniforms) and equipment to choose from and they send you a Joe of your specifications, like a sniper Joe or pararescueman or demo Joe. That would be cool!

I sent away for the mail-away Steel Brigade "make your own Joe" and never received it. I'm still traumatized by this today.

The Joes are alot of Direct Action Teams (Rangers, Marines, SEaLs, etc..) with the ability to set up bases and have armor and artillery as needed.

I don't have green shirts in my Joeverse so i'm a bit behind the curve from you guys. I've been thinking lately about how I would use them if i did and LC's post is pretty close to what I've come up with. Named Joes are E4 & above and are the mission specialists, greenshirts are Joes too but haven't earned their names yet. |

I see it kind of like what Star Wars: Clone Wars is doing. In Clone Wars, the Jedi are the Generals.
I see a similar thing with the Joes, except the Joes are the Sargeants and higher. So the Joe infantry is: Captain Grid-Iron is OiC Footloose is his 2iC A squad is made up of greenshirts, each 6 (or so) man squad would have a greenshirt sargeant, who then reports to Footloose, who would be the Lt overseeing the 3 or 4 greenshirt squads. Grunt would oversee another 3 or 4 greenshirt squads and Grid-Iron would oversee all 8 squads. Something like that anyways.
