There's another guy that's born in Scotland. For those that don't list foreign military service on their filecards, you can assume their parents are US citizens or the they are working toward citizenship through active duty service(I believe it streamlinrs the process).
I've always figured all the Spanish guys, since no service is listed, are just like you said, working toward citizenship through active duty service. Backstop moved to America a long time ago, and was a US citizen when he enlisted. Red Dog is from American Samoa in my book. They just said he was from Western Samoa to take him off the books. He probably has family all over the island. |

Scotland is Big Ben, who is SAS. He's the only "foreign" Joe with foreign military service, he's never been part of the US Military. He's "on loan" from the SAS.
In the comics, Vorona (aka Daina of the Oktober Guard) is the same way. The other Joes with foreign birthplaces don't have anything listed. So it can mean they are "on loan" or they were born there and moved to the US and became citizens. I think it's a mix of both and can be whichever works best for you. Off the top of my head, I don't think any of those listed (Snow Storm, Long Range, Backstop, Red Dog, Taurus and Switch Gears) don't have any service (foreign or US) listed.

Nice one. I don't own him but I've always heard the Blockbuster is worth owning. Learn something new everyday.

I was looking for anything to verify what had had been told. Wiki is not the end all be all for sure. I'm only guessing that the Marines have a few slots a year for their guys. The BUD/S training is optional, but I suspect they have a few guys go through. I need to find some source other than the internet. These guys have already done parachute courses and combatant diver courses, but if they sign up for another detail after their 1st 18 months then I could see them wanting to take other courses to keep their skills sharp.
But without proof I'm only guessing. I need to find out the truth blackrazor. Otherwise, I won't be able to sleep at night.

I know some marines have switched services to go through BUD/S and SQT to become Navy SEALs. I just don't see the point of a senior Force Recon Marine going through BUD/S. As you stated, he's already learned to dive. He's proven he won't quit. And I'm not sure what the SEALs can teach them about land warfare that he didn't learn at the School of Infantry or A/BRC. SEALs don't learn much of the really cool stuff until SQT. That would be over a year away from his unit for the marine. Now there is a course for Force Recon Corpsman that gives them the same Navy job code as SEAL Corpsman, but they don't get to wear the Trident.
yeah I don't know what they would get out of it besides underwater Demolitions which I'm not sure is part of the Combatant Diver course they take. And the SQT training would be mostly redundant. Maybe what I was told was an oversimplified version of what he was really taking. |

From what I've been reading, Marines can request to go through BUD/S even though they have their own SCUBA training school.

If someone wants to be a special operator, Navy SEAL is second to PJ in terms of time starting training to actually going on missions. Marine dive school is 35 training days or 2 months long (depending on the source). Why in the world would a marine go through BUD/S for dive training and put up with an extra 4 months of other B$. In that extra 4 months he could be finishing jump training and preparing to deploy with his unit. BUD/S is for people who want to be Navy SEALs. Nobody goes through for fun.

CIA sets up all types of connections. They are a small team maybe 10 guys tops. A few of them are SAD (either former Delta or Green Berets) Then there is the overall Spec Ops commander in the region (0-6) There would also be the Delta Commander (0-6) subordinate to the previous guy There would be maybe a Green Beret Company in the area probably led by a Maj. then there would be a Ranger Company or two on stand by in the Area as well. I haven't determined how big a Delta Squadron is but it seems to be about 22 men. Then there may be 2 Delta Squadrons, led by a Major. Attached would be the 160th SOAR night stalker guys and there would be a lot of Air Force dropping bombs and precision Munitions. Correct me if I missed anything. The SAD guys and CIA has got me more intrigued. They have a lot of say but eventually they have to move to the side and let Delta handle things. The Deputy CIA guy may have as much or more pull than the commanding Spec Ops officer. The Station chief may be even more senior than the Officers in a way but he's not involved in tactical planning. But he is involved with the overall mission on a higher level than the local military guys in theater. |

PJs go thru alot. I still think it's the #1 job that the Joe team is missing. A Pararescueman just seems a natural fit for the Joe team. Good thing I made one, lol.
Wow, 4000+ posts. 400 pages. Damn... Airborne and Airborne Long Range and Long Range Windchill and Windchill How many other shared names are there? That's one reason the Roadblock/Heavy Duty thing doesn't bother me as much as others. The precedent for different names/same body (Roadblock/Double Blast) and same name/different bodies (Airborne/Airborne) has already been established for a long time.
