You can use OIC and 2IC for "officer in charge" and "second in command".

Really? Nice. I'll have to try that. I love his harness. It's one of the better ones.

Here's a question..
What is the point of Law? What does the Joe team need an MP for? I could see if he was a Army CID guy, but he's an MP. His first card says he's airborne qualified. He's listed as the Joe's head of security. I can't see the Joes having the same issues that a normal base has, so having an MP is kind of odd. So how do you guys use Law?

I'm developing a Security Team. These are the guys that go in after the base has been taken and do the mop-up (taking prisoners) or maintain control of a captured base.
Law would be on that Team, along with the Steel Brigade guys (Rook, Checkpoint and Redzone). I dont' know quite what else to do with the Flamethrowers, so they get put on this Team to help provide Security.

Mercer V2 Then (his secondary is Explosives.) All the guys I can think of with explosive training or listed as "Demolition" or "Explosive Expert" Cross Fire LightFoot Taurus Static Line Steam Roller Claymore Wreckage Zap Ripcord Falcon Effects Tripwire Then the SEAL types Torpedo Wet Suit depth charge Deep-Six Finally the Combat engineers. I don't think there is such a thing as a PMS as "Demolitions" most of these guys listed above would be Combat engineers really wouldn't they? or gone through the training? Short-Fuze Clean-Sweep Blowtorch Tunnel-Rat I'm confused as to what branch Tunnel-Rat comes out of. There is such a thing as a 89D explosives ordnance Disposal Specialist under the "Ordnance" branch of the military. Yet Combat Engineers 21B are responsible for this type of thing as well. Maybe one is playing with landmines at the front and the other is not. Which brings me to a PMS of ordnance. That doesn't exist so what are Airtight, Nunchuck and Fast-Draw really doing. Probably EODs 89D or 89B Ammunitions Specialist or 91F Small arms repairer. Also what is a SMS of Sabotage? (Rapid-Fire) This leads me to another question, Do men and women in the services have two MOS's? Especially across Branches within the Army for instance? |

There's quite a bit of difference between EOD and "Demolitions."
EOD guys, like Tunnel Rat, are basically the equivalent to the police bomb squad. EOD is considered a combat service support specialty (in the same occupational grouping as medics, vehicle operators, finance specialists, etc.) not a combat specialty. That's not anything against EOD types, of course. It just means that they're not exactly expected to advance alongside infantry in pitched combat, but are called in (usually in situations that don't involve direct combat) to disarm booby traps and IEDs or to disrupt unexploded friendly and hostile munitions like artillery shells, rockets, and grenades. EODs are also occasionally used as force protection/security personnel, and they do undergo protective service training (which includes some CQB and MOUT trainng). When people colloquially talk about "demolitions experts," what they're usually referring to are "sappers"... army or USMC combat engineers who are cross-trained in infantry unit tactics. These guys serve primarily as explosives and mobility/countermobility specialists attached to infantry units, and they serve a secondary function as infantry riflemen. All sappers also have at least some basic EOD training and many of them are fully-qualified to wear the DoD EOD Badge just like the EOD guys. I think Zap and Trip-Wire fall under the sapper category. An alternative use of the term "demolitions expert" is to refer to the USMC's infantry assaultman. They're basically infantry riflemen who've received additional training in the use of tactical explosives and man-portable assault rocketry and missiles. I don't think there are any Joes who fall under this description (but that's probably because there aren't that many GI Joes from the Marine Corps to start with). A fourth "kind" of demolitions expert are your Navy SEALs. SEALs were originally descended from WWII's combat demolition teams, and demolitions, both underwater and terrestrial, still form a large part of the SEAL training regimen, even though they're more famous for the CQB aspect of their missions. Just like with the Marines, though, there aren't that many Joe SEALs... there's Torpedo, Wet-Suit, and occasionally, Shipwreck (who's been listed as a SEAL on and off for the past few years). As to who my favorite GI Joe explosives experts are, it's Torpedo, with Tunnel-Rat coming in a close second. EDIT: ninja'd by Loose Cannon :P Last edited by zuludelta; 03-18-2009 at 05:23 PM.. |

Soldiers (male and female) can and do get multiple MOSes. It's only a matter of getting the appropriate re-classification training. I'm not sure of it's the same in the Army, but if I remember correctly, in the USMC, a marine can hold a primary and secondary occupational specialty at the same time, although he/she will be promotable only in the primary specialty.
