I live in Philadelphia and maybe a year ago in "Philadelphia Magazine," they conducted a study that revealed that crime and gang violence had gotten so bad in certain parts of the city (not the part I live in, thankfully) that young men living in high crime areas actually had, statically speaking, a better chance for survival if they enlisted in the military, even in a time of war. In other words, an 18-year-old kid has a better chance of celebrating his 19th birthday if goes and fights in a foreign war then if he stays in his own backyard. So, I agree. But we should probably switch topics before we tread on forbidden political ground that could submarine the thread. I just thought that was an interesting study.

Troynos, if you would like - and I'm only offering - I could try to look at the Barrel Roll stuff and see what we can do. It may take me a little while, because I'm about to have to run some errands for work. But I would be glad to look at it, and work up one of my long file card bios if you like. I'm only offering if you would like some help.
I understand what you're trying to do. Barrel Roll is a great character, but it's hard to mesh "Air Force Fighter Pilot" with "Airborne Ranger Sniper" Officer don't become enlisted. The DOD has regulations against that sort of thing... I think I can come up with something, though, that will pay homage to both. I do think his primary focus should be as an air inserted, Airborne Ranger Sniper. As a Navy SEAL? I don't know about that. The Navy SEaL part was just to showcase his personality and drive to be the best. He figures he's already an elite ground operative and air operative, now he needs to be an elite sea operative. Trying to integrate his ability to fly fighter jets with what is obviously an Army background (the rest of his "stuff" is all army with just the fighter pilot being the oddball part). Go for it, see what you can come up with. He's a hard one to do. At first glance he's got all the earmarks of being an Airborne Ranger/Sniper.

I wonder how many Pilots (AirForce) go Delta? Since DDp intended Barrel-Roll to be AirForce.

It's really only DDP and the fighter pilot has has Barrell Roll as Air Force.
The other Stalls, Blackout and Bombstrike, are Army. Nothing about Blackout says he's Air Force, but he'd make a good ex-Army Ranger. Bombstrike's name seems Air Force, but she's a Forward Observer. That's an Army "job". Barrell Roll just screams to be an Airborne Ranger, or a Delta Operator like Shurtgutt and Gordan (from Blackhawk Down).

I was thinking about it the other night, I have so much more respect for those two Delta Snipers (beyond the respect for going down to secure the site). How hard must it be to be a sniper from a moving helicopter with the rotors creating all that downdraft?

Yet more proof that Hasbro and DDP really screwed the Stalls up.
