Holy Crap 10 pages since I left the office at 4? Dude Oliver I hope Larry replies that would be awesome.
Possible Questions: Why is there not an XO on the Team? Duke Flint sort of fill that role but ranks don't add up. Was there someone in mind. Why are some Infantry Joes not at least Ranger qualified. ie Footloose/Hit & Run/Recoil? What secrets did he expect people to uncover from the filecards? Where did he research his backgrounds for the filecards? Once he wrote a filecard did he use that as the template for the characters he would later flesh out in the comics? Do you like Claymore as much as some of us do? Was there something more there since the filecard is so over the top, but with so much detail. Who is the toughest Joe of all? |

more questions.
Which Characters, if any, didn't turn out the way you wanted them to? How difficult was it to balance the sci-fi vs realistic elements and did it ever go out of balance? CC or serpentor? Who do you prefer writing?

Here's something I never realized (thanks, Wikipedia) - Hasbro released a sports-themed character once a year for several years.
These are the ones I could find/figure out:
Cutter is wearing a Red Sox hat in 84 I'm not sure what was meant for Tracker in 91 with that outfit. Stretcher was an Olympic weightlifter. in 90 Snow Job is a Biathalon Contender in 83 I guess these might be a stretch. Maj Barrage is a wrestler in 2005. |

I love the card. It's always fun to make a badass card and A custom figure. Is that the Glenda Head? The Joes could use more officers. |

The way I see the Joe Hierachy is like this, based on Figures produced and highest rank achieved:
General Staff: 0-10 Colton 0-9 Keel Haul 0-9 Hawk (based on 2004 v with 3 stars on his cap even though he's listed as (0-8) 0-7 Flagg III 0-7 Flagg Jr (The filecard is for his son but it's the original Flagg) Senior Officers: 0-6 Payload 0-6 Col Courage 0-5 Skystiker 0-5 Sure-Fire 0-4 Ace 0-4 Maj Storm 0-4 Bullet proof 0-4 Major Barrage 0-4 Ghostrider Officers: 0-3 Claymore 0-3 Grid-Iron 0-3 Doc 0-3 Psyche-out 0-3 Updraft 0-3 Windmill 0-3 Rapid-Fire 0-3 Countdown 0-3 Maverick 0-3 Gears 0-3 Torpedo(based on new name otherwise he's WO-4) 0-2 Falcon 0-2 Cutter 0-2 Slipstream 0-2 Supertrooper 0-2 Sub-Zero 0-2 Dogfight 0-2 Steeler (Convention) 0-1 Thunderwing WO-5 Wetdown CW-4 WildBill WO-3 Flint W0-2 Maj Altitude WO-2 Liftticket That's just the officers. Not included are Oct Guard since there are 4 officers there. Other Generals closely associated with GiJoe, Hollingsworth; Austin; Rey, and Col. Sharpe as a Commander in the Cartoons |

If I were at the caliber of Larry Hama status. I would take an hour out of my day just to write as many emails back to fans as possible.
That's how the blood flows through the veins of something as cool and magical as the GI JOE stuff Hama worked so hard to make great. If it were me, I'd never be bigger than the fans that have put me "there." Even if it's just reaching out one time a day. |
