This has somewhat to do with the filecards but more so the card fronts from the original Joes. I always loved that Hasbro included the contents (accessories) that each of the Joes/Cobras came with on the cardfronts (usually under the plastic where it attached to the card) back in the day with the weapons called out by name most of the time. I actually miss that now. They also often named which weapons a certain Joe or Cobra was expert on the filecards.
It was because of that I knew a heck of a lot about Nato/Warsaw weapon systems long before I ever handled the real versions. I always thought that was an awesome detail that GI Joe had that most other toys didn't.

You're right, sir. Troynos knows his stuff. And coming from you, that's saying something. You're no slouch either - not by a long shot.

Thanks guys.
But yeah, I really miss that. I loved that each Joe had their own special weapons. It's like how some hitters have different bats they use (manufacturer, size, weight, etc..), they use these because they are comfortable with 'em and know them inside and out. I always felt sorry for the Joe's armorer though, having to keep track of all those weapon types and knowing how to fix/maintain them. The neon colors kind of ruined it all, and yeah, sometimes (especially in the later waves of RAH) they gave way to many weapons. The new line suffers from that somewhat: Firefly (comic pack) has 3 guns. Why? But I do love that they've been giving some of the characters handguns that they can use (instead of just painted onto the mold).

I didn't even think of the Uzi belonging to Storm Shadow, nice call.
I wish Bazooka and Tripwire had assault rifles or at least handguns.

Anyway, each member of Delta Force gets to choose their own type/model of weapon and have it customized anyway they want it (so long as it's tactical - nobody is allowed to have ivory handled pistols or anything ornate). The government pays for all of it, and the Delta Force Armorers have to be able to deal with all of it - these guys are some of the best in the world, the book says. Anyway, because the weapons are so customized it would be difficult for anyone else to use the weapons as effectively. So, when a Delta Force Operator leaves the unit, he is offered the opportunity to purchase his own customized weapon from the government, or it is taken apart to be used for parts... most of them buy the weapons. I just figured the Joes had a similar set up.

I once read an interesting story about the Armorer for Delta Force... I believe it was in the book "The Commandos" which isn't a novel, but rather a report by a journalist on the different Special Operations Units.

The Joes are really a fictional Delta Force anyways, so would make sense that the Joe Operatives (don't like how Hasbro calls 'em Agents) have their own weapons customized for themselves. That's it, we need a Joe armorer to add to the support staff.
