It doesn't mean that your not progressive. Women and Men have different basic physiology and different emotional response and coping. It is just how we are made up and wired.

My understanding is that Hasbro had the toys/likenesses ready, and Hama's job was to bring them to life and fill in their back stories.
Troynos is right; he adapted his idea for "Fury Force" which was supposed to star Nick Fury's son leading a commando team... this was adapted and it became separated from the rest of the Marvel Universe (to some extent). Although, contrary to what a certain member of this thread has said elsewhere, I think the Joe team would have given quite a few Marvel characters a run for their money. Captain America and Wolverine would have had their hands full with Snake-Eyes and Stormshadow. General Hawk would have had Nick Fury standing at attention. Hawkeye would have been a morning workout for Flint, or Duke, or Stalker or Beachhead. Bullseye? Firefly would have just blown him up. |

Oliver I always enjoy reading your posts and find some great insight in the majority of them. I however must take issue with Wolverine having his hands full with any Joe or Cobra. He has extensive military, ninja, samurai, assasin, etc. training. He deals with superhumans on an almost daily basis. He has a super speedy healing factor, unnatural agility, superhuman speed strength and conditioning not to mention all 5 senses being heightened(causing it to be near impossible to sneak up on him). His head was almost cut completely off and he was able to heal and survive. He has gone toe to toe with the Hulk and walked away. Magneto ripped his admantium out and he was able to survive, as he was also able to survive the bonding process. When Forge monitors Wolverine's vitals during a Danger Room training session, he calls Logan's physical and mental state "equivalent of an Olympic-level gymnast performing a gold medal routine while simultaneously beating four chess computers in his head." He is that good.
yeah the sneaking up bit would be hard to beat. He'd smell you coming. I look at all the joes like captain america types. I don't think Steve Rogers is Superhuman strong. But I imagine you put Him and Duke together in the Strongest Ranger competetion and it might be a tie. Yet those are Superheros. Although I can see the Joes able to take out a few of them for sure. Gambit, Green Arrow, Hawkeye, maybe even Spiderman. Not one on one but as a team ambush. |

Has anyone read the resolute filecard of Cobra Commander? It seems like the new resolute series might have Cobra already pretty far along in their world takeover. And the Joes are the special force fighting them to take them down while everyone else holds them off. It's kinda always bothered me that Cobra seems to be this almost nation sized army and the force that fights them is just the much smaller Joe team.
urg I seem to be having trouble putting thoughts down into coherent argument. if this makes sense to anyone congrats to you :P Also I wonder how resolute is gonna mix it up with how the characters are portrayed and their backgrounds. On a different note as much as I believe in gender equality the reasons given for not having women in combat roles makes sense. Are there any countries in the world that do not make any distinction between gender in their armed forces?

Thank you for the compliment; you're very kind. Let me also say: I hear what you're saying. Certainly, Wolverine is an amazing physical specimen. I would actually be very interested in what Larry would say about this... he wrote Wolverine before he wrote Joe, I think. I certainly don't think that any Joe could handle Wolverine. But in Larry Hama's Storm Shadow series (it only lasted 7 issues), he has ninjas doing crazy things. Snake-Eyes versus Wolverine might be a good fight. I understand the position you're taking, but I think there is mitigating evidence considering Hama wrote both characters. I suppose that my main point is that not every Marvel Super Hero is beyond the scope of the Joe team. Just as some Marvel characters are not evenly matched. The Joes are not super humans, but neither is every Marvel hero. Captain America would have made a great Joe... but is he that much better than Flint, or Claymore? I kind of doubt it. He might be strong and fast, but there are other qualities that might even things out. That's all. I'm not saying the Joes are equal to Thor or Galactus or something.

Thanks, Loose Cannon. That "Magnum" is going to be my Claymore figure. I have another "Magnum" figure wearing his Aloha shirt. I'm really excited about this Claymore figure. He's really well done... as you know: one of my very favorite characters. I'm really excited about the Kamakura. I think it's a great blend of Ninja & Commando. So, Marine Deadpool's going to finish my Falcon figure, and the Marine Sniper he calls "One Shot". Then, this summer he going to make me a Recondo and an Outback to round out the A Team to 12 members. I can't wait to get the whole team together and show you guys the pictures. With the uniforms painted so realisticly, I think it's a great artistic representation of the way I see the Joeverse... it's old Camo, like the Army during the Regan Administration - that's my Joeverse.

Is there a reason Widescope isn't mentioned in the list? Is it he came out between collecting periods for you guys? Or because he is a SWAT sniper? I personally can't wait to get 2 Shockwave comic packs so I can have Shockwave and do a custom Widescope and put him with Lamont. |

Oh, I forgot about Widescope, but I didn't usually include BTR figures until recently. Never cared for the style so I didn't keep track of the characters.
