Back to the 7 packs for just a minute. I think they're a great idea. If Hasbro would crank out a few of these here and there while they focus on the movie stuff, I'd be totally fine with it. Especially if they keep giving new and sought-after characters. Just a few ideas for set breakdowns:
An officer's set with Keel Haul, Colonel Courage, Skystriker, Bulletproof, Claymore, Capt. Grid Iron, and Psyche Out. A Dreadnok set with Zandar, Zarana, Monkeywrench, Thrasher, Zanzibar, Road Pig, and Gnawgahyde. Footloose, Dial-Tone, Low Light, Lifeline, Airtight, Sci-Fi, and a woodland camo Leatherneck. A Joe Arctic set with Sub Zero, Iceberg, Frostbite, Blizzard, Wind Chill, Tundra Ranger Stalker, and an Arctic Flint. Jinx, Law and Order, Crazylegs, Rock n Roll (gatling gunner), Repeater, Recoil, and Topside. An Oktober Guard set with Daina, Schrage, Horror Show, Stormavik, Dragonsky, Lt. Gorky, and Col. Brekhov. |

I think all of these will sell. I wonder how the other 7 packs have done. I like them. The Arctic one more so but they're great. What make these new ones great is they are all new figures except the BAT. I wonder how many they have to make to make it worthwhile and how many are still unsold.

I was thinking of Joes in other environments.
Desert, we really only have Dusty. There's that Desert Patrol Squad, but that's just repaints (and horrible ones at that). Dusty is still the only "desert trained" Joe. There's alot of Jungle Warfare trained Joes: Recondo, Pathfinder, Muskrat, Mutt, Big Brawler, Outback What about Arctic? Who's the CO of the arctic Joes? There's Snow-Job, Frostbite, Iceberg, Windchill, Avalanche, Blizzard and one other one that drives a vehicle... Am I the only one that sees Iceberg as a heavy machine gunner with extra training in arctic warfare (including extra training in maintaining his weapon in extreme cold)?

You know what my only gripe about the Arctic set they've done is, only the Snow Serpents and the Tele-Viper look like Arctic troops. They're all nice figures, don't get me wrong, but Scrap Iron and the Vipers are really just painted blue, white, and gray. The heavy gunner Viper has his sleeves rolled up. Those guys look more like an urban squad than an Arctic one.

Sub Zero's a lieutenant, so I guess he'd make a good Arctic CO.

Yeah, but that one is so much easier to troop build with. Set is: 1 officer 1 snow serpant 1 bazooka snow serpant 1 televiper 1 heavy weapons viper 1 arctic viper 1 mission specialist (Scrap-Iron) Just add another 3-4 Snow Serpants and you have yourself a decent mission ready squad. You have the mission specialist, communications, infantry (snow serpants), squad leader and a couple of spec ops guys (the vipers). Perfect small squad for pretty much any mission. Desert set, really nothing to troop build with, unless you get 2-3 of the set and get more loose CGs. And the Snow Serpants were released single carded, so easier to get. No single-carded desert, so have to troop build using the set and it's not a good troop building mix.

I always used other guys as Desert though. Pretty much anyone whose clothes matched Dusty. Repeater for sure. As far as guys with Desert Training. I think Doc, Snake Eyes, Crankcase, and Skidmark. |

Sub-Zero - CO
Snow Job Whiteout (isn't that the Snow Job repaint?) Windchill Frostbite Iceberg Blizzard - NCO (isn't he pretty high ranked, so he'd be 2nd?) Avalanche That's the permenant team, with members added on a per-mission basis. Throw Tundra Stalker, Arctic Snake-Eyes and Arctic Scarlett (when she comes out) and got a pretty good team. Who's medic, communications? Iceberg is heavy weapons.

Flint and Duke were both produced in Desert editions - so was Stalker in the DPS. Their Ranger & Special Forces training would include Desert training. Desert Wolf from the 8" line would be a good character to bring over to the 3 3/4 scale. I'm sure Outback could function in the desert. ... is Dusty really the only desert specialist on the team? That's insane. I don't mean that you're insane, Troynos. I mean that Hasbro is insane if Dusty really is the only one.
