Troynos, if you want a base commander figure to fit in with your Tiger Force Sierra Gordo combat team, you could always drop some dough on the 04 convention Zartan/General Hawk figure. He's got the Tiger Force pants and you could use him as General Flagg or Rey or whatever other Gen you want to use.

General Rey or General Flagg as Base Commander?
I see Gen. Colton as overall Joe commander. Hawk is CO of the North American/Main Base. There are 3 other bases/units. South American (Sierra Gordo), Asian (not sure where), European (not sure where). Smaller bases in the Arctic and Trucial Abysmia (desert). The 4 main bases have Generals, smaller bases, not sure... So Rey, Flagg II and are there any other Generals? |

Let's talk about Chuckles qualifications for just a minute... can we do that. The new 7 pack has gotten me really excited about one of my favorite characters.
Chuckles is C.I.A. I think we've established that pretty firmly in many of our earlier posts from months ago. But as a C.I.A. operative, it's not like he's an analyst. He's a field operative - I think he's actually part of the C.I.A.'s Special Activities Division (SAD), and you can read about that unit on Wikipedia. These are the real "James Bond" types. WHen I read the wikipedia article, and took a look at how Marvel and DDP used Chuckles, I think it's clear that Chuckles probably came from SAD. SAD operatives are recruited from Special Operations Units like Delta and SEAL Team 6 (DEVGRU). My question is: What did Chuckles do in the Army to get selected for SAD? Airborne? Ranger? CID? Special Forces? Delta Force? Larry Hama has him as a young MP in G.I. Joe: Declassified, but where did he go from there? I'm thinking he went to C.I.D. and then into Army Intel. From there, he probably tried out for Special Forces while he was an E-5. While in Special Forces, he could have gone to Ranger School and HALO, etc. He would have probably been recruited for Delta Force or the ISA because of his C.I.D./Intel background, and from there he was probably approached by the Agency for Special Activities Division. That's about the only way I can figure he got where he is, and it makes him a really tough soldier and way more exciting than I thought of him before. What do you guys think? |

I think some of the Joes, Flint and Low-Light come to mind, that had done some top secret-forget-it-happened stuff for the Company a time or two. I see Flint has having connections in the Intell world.
I think Joe has a pretty big intelligence unit, not just the guys we've seen. They'd have to have, to be able to get the information they need. Can't always rely on the other Agencies to get it for 'em. I see the Joes as pretty self-sufficient and not relying on others for much of anything.

Guys,
Been meaning to ask - I've seen several of you listing Gen. Colton as overall leader of the Joes, or at least as a high-ranking officer, but I've only seen him in one issue of the Marvel series (the anniversary issue). I take it he shows up more later? What's his deal?

Hawk is more able to be a field general, where Colton can stay behind and run the overall picture.

He ends up taking over the Joe team in America's Elite. He also appears in the Larry Hama/Dan Jurgens Declassified (or was it Special Missions) that details the Joe's "last" mission from DDP.

Yeah, there's a Joe Colton figure, code name GI Joe that came out in the 1994 convention. There's also a 2006 BTR figure.

His first filecard makes him out to be a major badass, but it's more than a bit over the top as well. I prefer the second one. Good stuff.
