Wow I couldn't get on the site for 2 days! Hisstank just kept timing out. I'm loving both of these 7packs and WHY NOT CLAYMORE? It would have been so easy. It's a very impressive lineup. I guess Hasbro is listening. I guess Ripcord has effectively died as we knew him. And SPC Altitude has taken his place. That will be an interesting filecard. Wasn't the original Altitude American Indian? RIP SGT Maj. Altitude!
I'm liking most of the Movie Stuff, except the Rolling PIT. It just looks like a big boat. The fact that it seems to look like some of the levels are underground seems hokey to me. I'm just happy it comes with Hawk and not some random new character I would otherwise be compelled to buy. Dropping close to $100 on. I have always thought of the Thunderclap as a mobile Artillery HQ. Rolling Thunder has become my Fast Attack \Cavalry HQ. ROCC as the mobile Urban HQ General as the mobile Infantry HQ MCC as the Armor HQ Using the name Altitude is weird, but I wonder how many fans really remember Sky Patrol. I know we all do, but there was only one version made of those characters. The only thing about the 7 packs is ZAP. I know, I know... a lot of people have been waiting for this final member of the original 13. Well, I would have preferred Claymore or Low-Light or Repeater. Any of those 3 would have been awesome. I'll grant that Claymore is a fairly obscure character, and that Repeater never had the following of Shockwave or Tunnel Rat or Hit & Run and they've already made 2 other machine gunner characters in the 25th line, but Low-Light seems like a no brainer. Everybody likes Low-Light and the 25th line needs a sniper. I mean, seriously, ask any fan to but together an Assault team of Joes. When you get to the position of sniper, who are they going to pick? Probably not Cross Hairs or Barrel Roll. They're first choice is going to be Low-Light. He IS the Joe team's sniper. Think about it, the Joe team, up until that point had a list of recurring specialties. Beach-Head was the new Stalker. Flint was the new Duke. Lady Jaye was the new Scarlett. Wet-Suit was the new Torpedo, etc. But Low-Light was something new. Low-Light was a new specialty altogether. Even though Scarlett and Spirit had sniper training, Low-Light was the first Joe to specialize in it. So the choice of Zap over someone else like Low-Light is the only part of this 7 pack I don't care for. I'm totally excited about the rest and 6 out of 7 is pretty awesome, especially when I understand why so many people want Zap.

Ok I included the General in the Artillery list, though I'm not sure if the Brawler is better suited as an artillery piece or ADA. Again the blueprints don't give any info about missile type. It could be used like the VAMP II--a mobile ADA unit with SAMs. Or it could perform like the Wolverine with surface-to-ground rockets that release cluster bombs over its target.

Let's talk about Chuckles qualifications for just a minute... can we do that. The new 7 pack has gotten me really excited about one of my favorite characters.
Chuckles is C.I.A. I think we've established that pretty firmly in many of our earlier posts from months ago. But as a C.I.A. operative, it's not like he's an analyst. He's a field operative - I think he's actually part of the C.I.A.'s Special Activities Division (SAD), and you can read about that unit on Wikipedia. These are the real "James Bond" types. WHen I read the wikipedia article, and took a look at how Marvel and DDP used Chuckles, I think it's clear that Chuckles probably came from SAD. SAD operatives are recruited from Special Operations Units like Delta and SEAL Team 6 (DEVGRU). My question is: What did Chuckles do in the Army to get selected for SAD? Airborne? Ranger? CID? Special Forces? Delta Force? Larry Hama has him as a young MP in G.I. Joe: Declassified, but where did he go from there? I'm thinking he went to C.I.D. and then into Army Intel. From there, he probably tried out for Special Forces while he was an E-5. While in Special Forces, he could have gone to Ranger School and HALO, etc. He would have probably been recruited for Delta Force or the ISA because of his C.I.D./Intel background, and from there he was probably approached by the Agency for Special Activities Division. That's about the only way I can figure he got where he is, and it makes him a really tough soldier and way more exciting than I thought of him before. What do you guys think?

BTW, I'm happy that Hasbro FINALLY got the SEaL right with the movie line. The Shipwreck character is what a SEaL action figure should be like.
He's got the gear to fight on land and water. So much better then the previous SEaLs. Too bad it's the sailor and not a SEaL that got the right figure. Movie Deep-Six looks pretty cool.

Yeah, I figure I may buy a few of those, swap heads, and use 'em for Shipwreck, Torpedo and Wetsuit.

What do you guys think? I like it. Yeah, really make Chuckles out to be one of the toughest Joes. I have to admit that, like Grid-Iron, I always kind of "forgot" about Chuckles or chaulked him up in the "Ice Cream Soldier kind of Joe" bin because of the shirt and outfit. Never took him seriously. I love the toned-down colors on the shirt. With a simple paint job (hair and moustache), he'd make a perfect Magnum figure. But yeah, Chuckles definately spent some time in Delta before the Agency tapped him.

Oliver, read the DDP Frontline issues with Chuckles undercover on a Joe op and the Joes go into it with the mindset of not breaking his cover? Was actually pretty good.
