"...Gorgeous, irrepressible Jane." Always wished they make a toy out of that. Now, of course, I realize how big it would really need to be.

I like the Flagg and it works as a staging area, but the Joes need something smaller and fast that can still insert a good sized team.

Ya know, the assault team idea is how Larry Hama did it in the comics. Did it during the Springfield assault and the assault on Cobra Island.

Cannonball, the driver of the RHINO, his card says he can also fly the helicopter. So there's another multi-funtional Joe, he's a driver and a helicopter pilot.

So I want to flesh out the support team more.
Vehicles (and what will use for it): Fuel Truck Ammunition Truck Supply Truck - Indy Jones Cargo Truck Medical Truck Command Jeep - Desert Fox Support Vehicles (2 Armadillos, 3 RAM) (3) Truck Drivers plus passengers (act as guards) Crews: Driver 1 - Passenger 1 - Driver 2 - Passenger 2 - Driver 3 - Passenger 3 - Medical Driver - Traveling Medic - Sideswipe Desert Fox Crew: Driver - Skidmark Communications - Unit Commander - So the Medical Truck may or may not be deployed, but I'm seeing it as a traveling doctor's office kind of thing. Not quite an ER, but alot of steps up from battlefield surgery. I chose the Desert Fox because it's got the longer "bed", can hold supplies and troops.

Here's some light reading for you Troynos. It's a document on Convoy Tactics. Which says: -a minimum of 5 vehicles -Heaviest Vehicle in lead to force through barricades -A medic or Corpsman on every convoy -A forward and rear element whenever possible. -should be equipped with Crew Served Weapons -And a Grenade launching Crew served weapon of some kind to attack over walls and in ditches. -360 degree view at all times, so vehicles with only a 180 view should not be in the rear since many attacks start from the rear. |

Put a Ram and Armadillo up front and one each to cover the rear. The Supply vehicles Need to be sandwiched in between Vehicles with mounted weapons. I imagine the Battle Wagon is the ultimate Convoy vehicle. Lots of fire power, tons of stations for better visibility. Plus the Higher visibility since it rides so High off the ground. Driving a Fuel or Ammo truck through enemy territory has to be a nerve racking job. |

Hey, sorry I've been out for awhile. Took a long vacation and went skiing in Utah. Had a blast. I was reading back through the pages and there's so much I'd like to respond to but I'll just start with some remarks about the different teams. You guys have a lot of good stuff, so here are some additional things I've thought of.
Troynos, do you have a mortar section as well or do you just include them under artillery or heavy weapons? I'm still trying to decide who to include in my six-man mortar section, which consists of two 60mm mortars, two gunners, two assistant gunners and two ammunition bearers / drivers. Short-Fuze and Downtown obvisously serve as gunners and I could use Clutch as an ammo bearer and driver but maybe I should incorporate some greenshirts for the other roles. Also, what about a CBRN team? Airtight and Flash have CBR training. I like to include Sci-Fi since he's very similar to Flash. And what about a Special Weapons team (Blowtorch, Charbroil)? Another EOD specialist would be Long Arm, but you may feel he's better suited with an urban task force. I also prefer to split up anti-armor guys from anti-aircraft. Anti-armor team would include Bazooka, Zap, Fast Draw, Salvo, Crankcase with AWE Striker and BBI humvees with TOWs. An Air Defense Artillery would include Cover Girl with Wolverine, Backblast, Knockdown, Rampart, etc. Artillery includes self-propelled howitzers and towed pieces with the following personnel: Hawk, Thunder, Long Range, Major Storm, Grand Slam... The Joes don't really have enough armor guys to make up a four-tank Tank Platoon, although a perfect four-man tank crew would consist of Steeler (tank commander), Heavy Metal (driver), Heavy Duty (gunner), and maybe a greenshirt as a loader. A second tank crew could include Thunderwing (tank commander) and Bazooka (driver). I have four Bradleys, so I use two of those as a section of CFVs for my Scout Platoon. And the other two make up the BFV section of my Mech Platoon, which also consists of two M113 APCs. |
