Munitions
Armorer/Weapons Expert Filename: William Raymond "Billy Ray" Johnson (Oliver, what's a good southern name?) PMS: Weapons Expert SMS: Infantry (help..) Rank: Lt or Capt Munitions always had a healthy and respectful fascination with weapons of all kinds. He spent all of his spare time at the local rifle range, hunting or just shooting in his backyard. It wasn't the power or deadliness that he liked, it was always the inner workings and operations of weapons that fascinated him. He went to college and got an engineering degree (does M.I.T. have an ROTC program?) thru an ROTC program. He turned down multiple offers from weapon developers and manufacturerers, one of them even thought to be Destro's M.A.R.S. corp, to join the Army. He felt that if the Armed Forces were the ones that used the various weapons, then it should be the Armed Forces that know how they work and make new ones. Graduated Ranger School and was tapped for Special Forces and the Delta Program, where his intimate and developing knowledge of all weaponry came in handy. Munitions was wounded during a classified mission, he now walks with a noticable limp, and was no longer field capable. He would have been stuck behind a desk in weapons R&D if Hawk hadn't found him and tapped him for the G.I. Joe team, where he now serves as the team armorer and weapons developer. Currently attending night classes to earn a degree in Laser Technology. Familiar with all NATO, Russian, Chinease and MARS hand and vehicular mounted weapons. "There isn't anything that Munitions doesn't know about guns, and he's still learning. Every member of the team knows that Munitions will not let a gun out of the armory unless it will work perfectly everytime it's fired."

I see a typical Cobra mission (say kidnapping a scientist) run like this: Named Cobra Viper Officer 4-5 man Viper squad Tele-Viper 1-2 Specialty Vipers (as needed)

I always kind of thought Scarface could have filled a role like that, rather than just being a courier or a driver, which is I think how the comics portrayed him. Too bad they offed him so early on.

Yeah, Scar Face is perfect. I'd like to change up his uniform a little bit, make him stand out more.
hhhhmmm.... Now I need to get ahold of a Scar Face head and some parts to use for a body.

I just traded my extra Scarface away a little bit ago, but I'm sure you can find some comic packs warming the pegs.

And wasn't there a Cobra named Lt. Claymore from just a couple years ago. I'm not too familiar with him, but wasn't he some kind of junior infantry officer.

Lt Claymore is the Shock-Viper Commander. Although I figure if a Cobra gets singled out and named he's probably a Major or better. Just to become unit commander to me signifies an 0-5 equivalency. Although they may not fit in everyones universe, guys like CLAWS Commander, NEO-Viper Commander, Crimson Guard Commanders, Skull-Buster, Rip-It and Lt Claymore seem like they would outrank most Cobra Officers.

We were talking about how old Gen. Rey would be as a Brigadier General, and Oliverbox's Bio had him less than 35 years old. Which works since we don't want a bunch of old guys in GIJoe. But is that even possible. I was just thinking about it, because on my way to work this morning I have to ride the Metro from the Pentagon to my office. I then had to ride it again to my other office at lunch. I noticed 3 separate One stars. None looked younger than 50. One was perhaps late 40's but he looked like a runner and was in shape. The other two had a little bulge around the belt if you know what I mean, but they were definitely in their 50s.
So is a 35year old one Star possible? |
