Troynos, I see the point you're making about the movie and I agree: It's not for us. However, I am excited about all the new toys we'll be getting as a result of the movie. Everything they produce probably won't be great, but there will probably be some really cool stuff to add to the Joeverse. In any event, though I'm not excited about the uniforms in the movie, I do think they will be nice versions of the Characters to add to the collection.
I imagine I'll probably enjoy the byproducts of the film far more than I actually enjoy the film itself.

My one complaint was the clip where two Joes in accelerator suits are dodging incoming fire - it just reminded me too much of a similar scene in the original Transformers trailer, and seemed overly derivative. Other than that, I liked what we saw so far.

Yeah, same here. I'm hoping the film is enjoyable, though.

So I'm (in my head) designing a Joe Armorer character. Knowledgable about any kind of gun. Won't necessarily be a front liner, but he'll be able to carry his own if he needs to. Primarily repairs/maintains the weapons of the Joe team and the vehicles, but could do the same in the field.
I remember all the old cards had "familiar with all NATO and Warsaw pact weapons". The Warsaw Pact is no-more. So what's the modern day equivalent?

HAHA! I think that term died on Jan 20th along with "War on Terror"
That's a good question though. I always like that it was put on file cards. And when I tried to come up with one recently I didn't know what to put on there. Since half the countries are now part of NATO, and only Czechoslovakia and East Germany were large arms producers (Both part of NATO now), I think it needs to be: Expert in all NATO, Russian and Chinese Small Arms. I wonder if the Russians are producing anything new, since the AK-74? The AK-47 would seem to be the only Weapon that would need to be studied. Since half of the weapons are based on that platform. Maybe these as well. Russian Small Arms - «Pecheneg» Kalashnikov infantry machine-gun Russian Small Arms - GSh-18 Gryazev-Shipunov self-loading pistol Although they did make a few Sub-machine guns, I'm not sure how prevalently they were used. Maybe they would only become experts in one or two weapons. Because to even be a weapons expert in all NATO small Arms would be a huge task. The British, French and Germans make up only half of what the rest of the members produce and they make as many as we do. |

There's a few joes listed as Small-Arms Armorer, which I guess has gone away to just being Called Small-Arms Technician. But that's more a maintenance job. Grunt, Duke, Blowtorch, Charbroil, Mercer V1, Beachhead are Small Arms Armorers. Drop-Zone is a Weapons Specialist, probably a 18B like the Convention Beachhead. As a kid I imagined a Quartermaster character that was that guy, but quartermasters deal with everything but weapons and ammo I think. Maybe codename this guy Clips or Ammo. |

Yeah, Quartermasters deal with supplies and that kind of thing. My cousin was a quartermaster in the Air Force a long time ago.
