Sorry seaneley, I didn’t know you were being kept in suspense.
1982 Short-Fuse's accessory was the M-1 81mm medium mortar, a genuine WWII US Army mortar. 1984 Mortar Defense Unit playset was really a M224 60 mm mortar with the M8 baseplate. 1985 Forward Observer Unit playset was really a M29A1 81mm mortar with a M3 baseplate. 1989 Downtown was the Mortar Man without a mortar. He came with a M18 57mm recoilless rifle (anti-tank weapon). 1990 Sub-Zero came with a two-piece short range mortar, maybe a M2 60mm mortar for light infantry. The GIJCC recently used for both Sub-Zero and Sonic Viper the L16 81mm mortar (a.k.a. M252 mortar). It came out with a Spy Troops two pack in 2003 (Iron Grenadier and Recondo). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soltam_K6

Does anybody know what heavy machine gun the original Rock 'n Roll came with? I've always heard it was an M-60, but it doesn't resemble any Hog I've ever seen!

That's the way I always understood it. It's listed as an M-60 though.

Yeet is correct, of course. The toy sculpt always was the MG 42 general-purpose machine gun, which is to say, a weapon that can be adapted to light machine gun and medium machine gun roles.
The toy sculpt might possibly have an error, in that the leaf rear sight with an open V-notch sliding on a ramp seems to be installed backwards on the weapon, but otherwise seems like a really decent likeness of the MG 42. Quote:

Kwinn, the mercenary, preferred to carry the M1919, a Browning .30 caliber medium machine gun. My 2013 G.I. Joe Retaliation Kwinn action figure carries a silver M1919A4 Browning .30 caliber machine gun which I took from a 1995 Sgt. Savage (v.4) cryo-freeze action figure, just to complete his vintage look from Marvel comics.

Are you sure about that? The front side of the cardback for the 1982 Rock ‘n Roll reads: “Includes: Heavy Machine Gun, Helmet”. The copywriter at the time should have listed it as a light machine gun, but made a mistake. Nope. seaneley is correct. Is it realistic that Stalker started as a Ranger who went Special Forces?
