IF that is Red and Blue it sort of matches with the 4th Brigade Combat Team 25th infantry.
Which matches one his other patches. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4th_Br...antry_Division But he also has 173rd Airborne Combat Team patch so pick your poison. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/173rd_...de_Combat_Team https://www.rallypoint.com/units/25t...ld-barracks-hi a LRRP, 173RD AIRBORNE DIVISION SHOULDER PATCH and a 142ND LRSD (VIETNAM ERA) SCROLL |

Yup, he's got a LRSD 125TH MI BN, 25TH INFANTRY DIVISION (INACTIVATED IN 2O15) flash
https://www.rallypoint.com/units/25t...ld-barracks-hi a LRRP, 173RD AIRBORNE DIVISION SHOULDER PATCH and a 142ND LRSD (VIETNAM ERA) SCROLL Also interesting....his filecard lists him as an E-5 but his figure comes with E-7 stripes..... Quote:
Also, Hama was writing the filecards from his knowledge of the military from when he served so all the MOS info can be confusing. For example; Duke and Stalker both have an MOS of Infantry because that's what SF personnel had as their MOS during the Vietnam era. The SF career field wasn't formalized till later. |

Yes, I think so. I had a document that went in depth on the history of the MOS but I can't find it for the life of me. But wikipedia has a quick summary which talks about the various SQI's through its history and who can wear the SF tab
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United...Forces#The_Tab Military Occupational Specialty, MOS, 1st Battalion, 50th Infantry, in Vietnam Down towards the bottom shows the SQI's during the Vietnam War era. It lines up with what wikipedia shows as an SQI of "S" for Special Forces. So Duke's filecard shows him also as a small arms armorer. So I wonder if he started his career as a Small Arms/Artillery Repairer and then went Special Forces? If all SF personnel during that time were 11B Infantryman then his MOS would have changed to that with a SQI of "S". Assuming of course since I am not well versed with Vietnam-era MOS's. |

Gordon Rottman does a good job of breaking down the training and organization of SF in Vietnam:

Can anybody make out the beret flash on the Sideshow Collectibles Stalker? His left arm seems to have the same shoulder patch as Rock 'n Roll.

I also found this:

I don't know much about Vietnam era / 70's-80's MOS stuff but my modern approach to guys with MOS's like that (Duke, Beach Head) are that they were former 18B Weapons Sergeants that have undergone a SOF armorer's course. Either the NSWC Joint Armorer's course or the new USASOC SOF-Peculiar Weapons Repair Course. https://www.navy.mil/submit/display.asp?story_id=37621 https://www.soc.mil/SWCS/_pdf/SWCS_F...ndbook_web.pdf The above link is VERY handy for figuring out modern SOF training for one's joeverse. I personally can't see Duke transitioning from a support MOS to SF, to me guys like him were more likely Infantry (most likely Ranger Bat)to SF. A small arms armorer is more a full time gunsmith, likely a place for retired gunfighters or guys like GI Joe Extreme's Red McKnox. |
