my most realistic and organised take, the Black Sword version of the Joes is no bigger than a company.
It's basically a small air element of 6 pilots operating as 3 2-man crews, using MV-22 Ospreys, MH-60s or MH-6s as needed; mobility element of 4 vehicle drivers using Hummers or Strykers as needed; a SEAL element of 6 men plus Shipwreck as SWCC; Sky Patrol 6-man HALO/HAHO Pathfinder team, 4-man Ranger ATGW element, 4-man Ranger machine-gun element; 4-man Demolitions/EOD element; 4-man sniper element; 4-man signals element; 2-man Ranger mortars team; the rest is a grab-bag of Rangers, Marines, Delta and USASF plus Mainframe who only operates at HQ, Doc, Lifeline and Stretcher as medics, Scarlett and Chuckles as the CIA liaisons and Hawk as CO. I have a hard time not trying to fit in all my babies. Where's Big Ben CapBritain? You have a separate Action Force unit too correct. I would like to see your take on all those guys. Also your Black Sword fanfic. I think I read some a while back, but lost the link. Your team seems more manageable. I need to come up with that perfect Company sized unit, or a smaller Squadron size.

I couldn't find any information on USMC information warfare/cyberwarfare/network-centric warfare type units, so I went Army. |

How big is your Joe Verse Darkhawk75?
How about everyone elses? It sort of makes a difference of how one imagines their Joe Verse. Mine is approximately a core 500-600 man international Task Force. I sort of ignore the obvious need of support troops and envision they are borrowed locally in Theater. So I have Aircraft based off the Flagg that are a separate Joe Airwing, used exclusively for Joe operations. Small Air Support teams in each Squadron piloting Helicopters or Skyhawks. Serviced by the local support crews if needed. I have a small Artillery Battery, and some Armor, and Mechanized Cavalry -Fast Attack Unit, which has to have a few Green Shirts attached. So I don't know how many Green Shirts I think are in my Joe Task Force, or Steel Brigaders. I almost feel like there doesn't need to be an entire Brigade of Support Troops. Certainly not Steel Brigade Cooks. But certainly some form of Gunners, crewman, and loaders for Aircraft and the small contingent of vehicles. So MAYBE a 1000 total? I see the Joes as more force Multipliers. They can come into any situation, with their entire spectrum of specialties, but in general they are there to pick a fight or end one. I have them broken into 6 Squadrons Approximately 60-70 men deep. Although I can see how the Armor Mobility Squadron will need to be bigger. In fact if you have the MMC, The General, Thunderclap and the Rolling Thunder that alone would probably require a crew of 10-15 each. Not to mention every other tank and vehicle in the Joe Arsenal. I think one would only deploy one at a time and guys like Major Storm, Tollbooth, HardTop, Steam-Roller, and Cross-Country make up the core of the "HUGE" vehicle team that has an additional number of Green Shirts attached. AIRBORNE: Air Support: Recon Team (Pathfinders): (x)24 man Combat Control Team: (x)24 man Coalition Maritime Expeditionary Recon Force (Littoral/Jungle) Air Wing: SEAL/SBS Team: (x)13 man SWCC: (x)13 man Recon Team 1 (Raiders): (x)13 man MARINES Recon Team 2 (Predators): (x)13 man ARMY Armored Recon Mobility Squadron Artillery: (x)8 man Armor: (x)26 man Mechanized Cavalry: (x)24 man Mountain Task Force: Air Support: Mountain Troop:(x)20 man Arctic Squad:(x)12 man Oktober Guard:(x)25 man "The MOVEMENT" Command and Control Team (x)10 man Assault Team:(x)16 man Intelligence Team:(x)18 man Security Team:(x)13 man Battle Research Special Weapons Force: Air Support: Assault Troop:(x)28 man Engineers Troop:(x)28 man But enough of my rant. Besides where to place certain Joes (due to skills or lack thereof) logistics has been my other sticking point as to why I have not settled on a permanent structure. |

On another topic I know we have discussed who the Joe snipers many times over the years but what about other untapped Joes who could have gone to sniper schools in their respective services? We have 7-8 Joes who are SEALS (Torpedo, Wet-Suit, Shipwreck?, Tracker, Talbot, Harpoon, Nightfox, and Wet Down) but except for Talbot we do not hear about any other special skills that the rest possess. SEALs can go to sniper, medic, comms, engineering, CAS, etc schools/training yet all of these Joe SEALS seems to just swim underwater planting explosives all the time. Does anyone make say Wet-Suit sniper-trained or maybe Wet Down is qualified to call in air support?
Same goes for the SF, Marine Recon, US Army 11B and 19D (Cavalry Scout) Joes. Potentially some of them could have gone to sniper training. The list would include: Special Forces: Drop Zone (90) Airborne v2 (90) Airwave (90) Static Line (90) Duke Flint Snake-Eyes (82) Recondo (84) Stalker (82) Infantryman (11B) Skydive (90) Altitude (90) Starduster (87) Recoil (89) Outback (87) Sneak Peek (87) Pathfinder (90) Grunt (82) Flash (82) Dusty (85) Footloose (85) Sci-Fi (86) Hardball(88) Budo (88) Spearhead (88) Desert Wolf (07) Jeffrey “Dusty v2” Paquette (02) Big Lob (10) Hershel “Heavy Duty” Dalton (09) Rock'n'Roll (82) Roadblock (84) Bazooka (85) Repeater (88) Double Blast (01) Salvo (90) SEALs: Shipwreck (85) Torpedo (83) Wet Suit (86) Tracker (91) Link Talbot (04) Harpoon (95) Wet Down (01) Night Fox (10) Force Recon Gung-Ho (83) Leatherneck (86) Cavalry Scout (19D) Armadillo (88) Reed “Rollbar v2” Williston (09) Crankcase (85) Backstop (87) Wildcard (88) Robert “Rollbar” Dube (04) Avalanche (87) Blocker (87) Again this is determined by everyone's interpretation of said Joes. However I feel there would be more snipers than the few that Hasbro has given us over the years. |

He was commissioned through ROTC at Brigham Young University and served in the 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment of the 10th Mountain Division. During one deployment to Iraq he was involved in Operation: Commando Eagle (Commando Eagle - Eagle Commando) where his sharp eyes, attention to detail and quick, decisive decision making averted a potential tragedy as his platoon stopped a truck hiding a High Value Target who was suspected of numerous IED attacks on coalition forces. (Keeping in the spirit of the filecard). He was serving as a Ranger Company Ops officer immediately prior to joining the Joes. He'll be the XO in Sky Patrol under Albatross. He was named 'Mountain Eagle' by Spirit who noted that Mountains and Eagles seem to be a reoccurring motif in his life. |
