Yeah had we discussed that a while back in regards to Breaker. I think we were undecided if Breaker was a Special Forces Communications Sergeant (given that he was assigned to Project Gamma and can speak seven languages) or some Signal Corps MOS. He has "Infantry" listed as his PMS so we figured he enlisted in the Army as an 11B before going Special Forces. Of course he could have also been in the Intelligence Branch and been a signals intercept tech as well.

So I did some rearranging and came up with this. Its based off of the Heavy Weapons Platoon
- Commander: Rapid-Fire - Driver/RTO: Steel Brigade Delta - Operations Sergeant: Brawn - EOD: TNT - Artillery Engineer - Rifleman: Montero (Tracker, AF) - Gunner: Fast-Draw - Team Leader: Crossfire - Gunner: Backblast - 25? Signals - EOD: Scout (Action Force, AF) - EOD: Shell-Shock - Section Sergeant: Salvo - EOD: Effects - Rifleman: Red Spot - Forward Observer - EOD: Knuck - Team Leader: Ironhide (Heavy-Duty, RoC) - Gunner: Zap - EOD: Tripwire - EOD: Lightfoot - Forward Observer |

This is your EOD team? This is a good setup having so many of them together.
"Disarming IEDs one charge at a time!" I guess they could also lay booby traps? Rapid-Fires SMS is SABOTAGE.

Based it off of these:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_weapons_platoon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weapons_company https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combined_Anti-Armor_Team It's a 16-18 Man Airborne Platoon that operate with: - Platoon Leader & Driver in a HMMWV + Trailer - HMMWV or MRAP with BGM-71 TOW ITAS Weapon System - HMMWV or MRAP with FGM-148 Javelin - Close Combat Missile System-Medium - HMMWV or MRAP with M2 Browning .50 Caliber Machine Gun one HMMWV Mark 19 40mm Automatic Grenade Launcher, Mod 3 I don't think I have them divided up correctly. I think it should be one section as Anti-Armor and another as a "fast-attack light-infantry specialist squad of soldiers trained for breaching, raiding, and close combat." - Heavy Weapons Platoon The Fast-Attack is what made me think of Rapid-Fire as the Commander since he was the Fast Attack Expert in his MOS. What about using Sgt Savage as your Command Sergeant Major? Years ago zuludelta used him as a CSM in one of his structures. I think Sgt Savage's background is he is a WWII soldier who was frozen and brought back years later. Instead of using that in my Joe-verse I just make him as having many years in the Army (maybe 28?) so he would have to be a CSM and probably the most senior NCO. Maybe the younger Joes joke that he is "so old he could have served in WWII" or something along those lines. I never understood the full difference between the S3 and S5 shops. S3 provides training for soldiers during peacetime but during a deployment I understand that they help with providing plans and such. Seems like the kind of work that the S5 shop provides (plans that is, not training). Reading some source materials it looks like S3 and S5 is combined in several units. Do you have a breakdown of each company/platoon.section/etc and which Joes are placed where? |

So much to dissect DarkHawk. Looking at my Mobility Squadron The Mechanized Cavalry Troop section is similarly set up personnel wise. Although Fast Attack is what I was going for basing it around Rapid-Fire.
Mechanized Cavalry: Rapid-Fire (O-4) Grid-Iron (O-3) Sgt Savage (E-9) Zap (E-7) Salvo (E-7) Grunt (E-7) Cross-Fire (E-7) Clutch (E-6) Footloose (E-6) Fridge (E-6) Bazooka (E-6) Quarrel (E-6) Freight (E-6) Extreme Skidmark (E-5) Crankcase (E-5) Tracks (E-5) custom Wildcard (E-5) Bootstrap (E-5) custom Rumbler (E-4) Sandstorm (E-4) Rollbar (E-4) Panther (E-4) AF Stalker (Snake-eyes) Wheels (E-4) AF Sapper (E-4) AF

This is a good set up, but how large is your Joe Team? You've got a lot of generals and colonels involved (I guess pretty big if they have their own sub as well). I can't imagine Joe being any larger than a marine expeditionary unit and that is a little over 2000 soldiers typically commanded by a Colonel. You do have some great ideas that I may borrow.
General Hawk - Commander General Rey - Field Commander to the Main Teams (Tiger Force, Night Force, etc.) General Flagg - Field Commander to the Combined Arms (Mechanized Infantry & Armor) Keel-Haul - Field Commander to Air/Sea Support (Fighters & the Sub). I hope this makes sense as I’m writing this while sick at work. |
