do you all use your helo pilots as being US Army?
I know Wild Bill is from the Army, but I don't think Updraft or Major Altitude are given service branches... |

Wind Mill was an instructor at Fort Rucker
Updraft was a special instructor at the flight Warrant Officer's School at Fort Rucker before being selected for duty with G.I. Joe. Major Altitude - "Determined to fulfill his dream to be a G.I. Joe copter pilot, he wrote to the local Army Recruiting Office to find out education and physical requirements for the G.I. Joe Flight program. He then prepared himself in mind and body for the day he would be a Real American Hero. Eight years later, after finishing at the top of his class in both Aviator School and Flight Warrant Officer School Blades is also Army Aviator SChool I count Matt Trakker(v1) as a Army Pilot. As well as Red-Zone. Flight Warrant Officer School is Fort Rucker and is for ARMY. SO they are all Army to me. Air Force doesn't fit the bill for the Joes to me. But Tiger Force Skystriker is now cross-trained as a helo pilot. But I don't could him or Battle Copter Ace. The Marines pilots would fit the bill, but the Marines don't have Warrant Officer Pilots. So Hollow-Point is a wierd one, since Range Officer is a Warrant in the Marines, but still the Marines don't have Warrant Officer Pilots. File card says E-6. He's not a pilot to me. A navy Rescue pilot would work well with Ice-Storm, but that doesn't exist. I don't count Recondo, Cannon-ball(Might Change my mind), Steel Brigade Commander, or Bullet-Proof as pilots. Glenda, Lt. Stone (Extreme), and Diana I do.

damn, it's so long since I've read the file cards I forgot what was on them.
I never liked Ace as a Battle Copter pilot. I hated it as a kid. I used to hate them doing new versions of old figures with new jobs like that. |

I like the figure too, just hate the fact they made him a helo pilot.
I got the BC figure and use him as my back-seater in the Skystriker. |

Flint is also an Army helicopter pilot, but he serves more as one of the main two squad leaders (Torpedo, also as a Warrant Officer, is the other squad leader). I try to have an equal blend of service branches. So, certain characters that I don't think are essential to being in the Army, I will put as USAF just to help balance the branches out. So, in my Joeverse, characters like Lift Ticket, Barbeque, Airtight, Life Line, and Ripcord (combat controller) are all USAF. Likewise, I've made some of the characters USMC just to balance it out; like Clutch, Low Light, Steeler, Mutt & Junkyard, and Zap. Jason |

^I did something similar with my modern Joe take called Black Sword. I made Major Altitude a Marine pilot, Updraft and Windmill I think it was were Navy and Cloudburst I made a Marine helo pilot.
I left the majority of the Joes I was using as Army though, making most either Rangers or USASF with some as Delta. I did make Mainframe into a soldier though, since the USMC doesn't seem to have any computer warfare types. I also made Chuckles and Scarlett CIA. |

A while back,I think, there was some discussion about how NCIS and JAG could be part of G.I.Joe. I was wondering how the members of Hogan`s Heroes could become part of G.I.Joe? Even though Cobra is a ruthless organization, they would still take prisoners. What group of Joes would fit as being like Hogan`s Heroes to disrupt Cobra`s plans?

For LeBeau since there are no Frenchmen on the Joe team I would either use Roadblock (cooking skills) or Mutt (LeBeau had an affinity for the prison camp dogs). Newkirk was a card player and a con artist so Ace and Snow Job would fit his quirks. However if you want someone from the U.K. to portray him then Big Ben would be a good choice. Carter was the demolitions expert so I would use Tunnel Rat. There are a lot of demo experts on the Joe team but TR was probably the most "popular". I would use either Breaker, Dial-Tone or Dee-Jay for Kinchloe (since Kinch was a master at comms). If you want to match ethnicity then Dee-Jay is the obvious choice. However while the character Kinch had a more stoic personality I feel Dee-Jay has more of an upbeat and outgoing one since the guy is a former disc jockey. For Hogan this is a tough one. If you want a colonel from the US Air Force then Skystriker would be a good choice. However we know next to nothing about Skystriker's personality. Hawk might be a good choice but he is not technically a pilot (although the Marvel comics portrayed him as one). Plus his personality seems to conflict with Hogan's. Hogan was a lady's-man while Hawk doesn't seem the type. And to round out the other main characters from the series you could use Sunbow Cobra Commander as Klink (both are bumbling idiots). I have no idea on Schultz though. Has to be a "lovable" character that is performing his duties out of loyalty for his country more so than his own his own personal set of beliefs.
