I keep forgetting how rigid the US military is. In pretty much every other army in the world a guy like Grunt could join, train, go to a unit, take a couple of courses to go into a mortar platoon, go back to a rifle platoon, return to the mortar platoon to become a mortar fire controller (there - fire support specialist), then maybe switch over to a reconnaissance platoon or pioneer platoon. His MOS ID equivalent would remain "infantry" throughout. |

Technically, the beds in the MCC were supposed to be medical beds. I’ve used the jail in the HQCC as an improvised sick bay.

Grunt and others raise some interesting questions. When a soldier changes MOS, I believe he doesn’t necessarily bring his rank with him. In other words if he’s in the range to get promoted to E5 and he becomes a 13F, how long does he have to stay an E4?

Yea, the z-force APC is awesome. I would want it in two configurations. As it is for medical & if they mirrored the seats, 4 in each row, plus the computer would be perfect as a GI Joe/Action Force that transport a squad. Sorry if this doesn’t make sense type by on phone while conducting security rounds.

I think Grunt as an E-4 in 1982 would be a highly sought after soldier, by all the SOF units we can think of. Even if we view him as just a soldier, that doesn't quite cut it anymore. If he were to view himself as "Hardcore" then he would at the very least have a Ranger tab. If he just is a ball of all the intangibles commanders look for, he wouldn't stay that way for long. He could say no to Ranger school or Q-Course maybe once or twice, but he would be forced eventually to push himself. Now it could also be said that Hawk is a great commander and just so happened to grab Grunt right before he hits E-5. Joining the Joes has to be equivalent to at least the Rangers, so all the training would be covered as a Joe. Hawk needed a guy who could do everything, and Grunt filled that role. Drive the VAMP. I need another COMMs guy. Figure out this surveillance device. Help me figure out the weapons we need.
I feel he needs to at least be Airborne-qualified though. Quote:

On a side note I have been attempting to figure out the 11B Joes and their progressions using this reference material: http://www.benning.army.mil/infantry...date6March2017 |

I have Cutter as a Navy LT in charge of my SWCC team. But if you envision a needed role for what his Coast Guard role brings to the table, then give him a boat crew befitting of whatever vessel he needs.

Nice setup DH, always love your take on things.
I use Cutter as the OIC of a USCG MSRT unit attached to the Joes for Domestic Operations. Hasbro made quite a few Coasties in their 12" line and one day I want to make 4" customs of each one. |

Thanks. I’m finally happy with my setup. A lot of it is me thinking ok here’s what I want to see. Then trying to make it fit somewhat realistically. But I borrowed a lot from others ideas and sources talked about in this thread.
