Nothing on the filecards supports any of them being Green Berets except Duke. Maybe Roadblock these days.

Duke and Roadblock and Flint have been together forever. No problem there (for me). Since Mutt went to Jungle Warfare Training School, I just kind of assumed he was Special Forces in some capacity. I see no problem with Barricade being a Green Beret with his skill set. This Lifeline is "Greg Scott," which means he isn't the same pacifist as Lifeline I. I know that many Special Forces encourage medics to be on the team. (Falcon and Stalker are both medics.) Charbroil is technically more of an Incendiary Weapons Specialist than a true "Flamethrower" trooper, since those have been obsolete since before the '80s. His "Night Force" version screams Black / Dirty Ops; but would a Green Beret transition into his position? So, am I nuts? Do these work? Or are they in the realm of impossibility / fantasy? (Dang, I know zip about the military! I should have served!) Last edited by seaneley; 11-07-2017 at 05:22 PM.. |

Well they could be part of the 3rd's Support Battalion. They would have Red Berets, but the same flash.

On the right side of each helmet is the 3rd Special Forces patch, plain as day. (Also on Lifeline's left arm.)
http://www.joebattlelines.com/images...teamhelmet.jpg Not everyone in a Special Forces Group is an 18 series MOS. You would have a lot more support soldiers than actual "Green Berets". Maintenance, logistics, administration, etc would need to be filled by "non-Green Beret" soldiers. From the six in that set Duke would most likely be an 18Z Special Forces Operations Sergeant. Barricade and Mutt would probably be 31B Military Police (which I am not sure if any MP's serve in a Special Forces Group or not). Roadblock would be an 11B Infantryman (which again I do not know if Special Forces Groups have any 11B's assigned to them or not. Otherwise make him an 18B Special Forces Weapons Sergeant). Charbroil could be an 18C Special Forces Engineer Sergeant and a case could be made for making Lifeline an 18D Special Forces Medical Sergeant. So except maybe for the two MP's the rest can realistically have served in a Special Forces Group. |

I am a little unsure of the makeup of these Support Battalions. Like what type of units are in the Support Battalions. Cooks? Clerks? Transportation units? Mechanics? Are they just on loan from a parent unit? I see guys with 82 Airborne patches in some of those pics. Sadly Sgt. La David Johnson was most likely part of 3rd Special Forces Groups, support Battalion.

Yes, it's primarily a training company. It consists of a Language and Culture section, Combat Environmental section, Maritime Ops, SF Advanced Urban Combat and Advanced Combatant Skills section, Advanced Special Ops Techniques and Advanced Target section, Sniper Course section, and SF multipurpose canine section. These sections train personnel in various skill sets and maintaining equipment associated with each section. So skis and snowmobiles in the Environmental section and scuba gear and small boats in the Maritime section, etc.
