That Strawhacker thing really annoyed me.
One of the first Joe missions was to rescue the man who was engaged to SE's sister. SE was also sent in to rescue him another time in Borovia. Just so happens that one of the top-soldiers, his sisters ex-fiance was a top CIA man... Yeah.. Another example of SE being the lord and master of the Joeverse.

Ah yes, six degrees of Snake Eyes. It's why I'm not sorry that I never read the Marvel Joe comics.

Yeah worse I'd say as well. Snake-Eyes declassified when he and pre-Cobra Commander are friends is just silly. Although Baroness joining Cobra because she blames Snake-Eyes only to meet Destro the Teenager is equally bad. Kamakura (who I like by the way) becoming his apprentice, is Wade Collins' son was an OK connection for me. Wade Collins getting picked up by Cobra not so great.

Don't forget that the Hammer Team (or whatever they were called) that Sean Collins was a part of (prior to becoming Kamakura), and that Duke & Chuckles organized missions for, had the guy that would become Overlord (in DDP continuity) as a member.
And Scarlett, when was with the FBI, was on an assignment that involved Destro and the IGs. Zartan encountered Destro and his daddy in Australia. The Destros created the Chameleo swamp skimmer. The Cobra Commander/SE as vigilante buddies thing, that was the absolute worst.

I think Hama once said in an interview that the entire Marvel run was basically the story of Snake-Eyes. My question would be if that's how he intended it to be from the start, or if it just evolved that way?
I wonder how much that factor (basically the ridiculous way that the Snake-Eyes saga got blown out of proportion) helped to bring and end to the comic. I also have to imagine that the weird direction Hasbro was taking the toy line at that time had a lot to do with waning interest by the public. By '94, G.I. Joe wasn't what it was 8 years prior.

Not to change the subject, but have we ever really broke down the top ten occupations missing from G.I.Joe? I know we touch on it a lot, but have we ever come up with a definitive list?
Here's mine and half of this comes from our discussions: 1. Marine Sniper 2. Combat Contoller 3. ParaRescue 4. SeaBee 5. Navy Corpsman 6. Special Boat Squad 7. Marine Officer 8. After that I'm kind of at a loss. None of these guys are Army. I think the Joes definitely need more representation for the other Armed services.

I think it evolved that way. The earlier stuff involved more of the team, it just started involving Snake-Eyes more and more the more popular he and his toy became. Issue #1 - small part by SE, #2 part of a team, #3 no SE, #4, small part, #5, no SE, etc.. I think Hama went ahead with Special Missions to try to get the book away from being the Snake-Eyes/Storm Shadow soap opera and back to what he originally wanted: a special ops military team.
