How ever many recon guys are needed.
Sneak Peek and Recoil could be tasked to this group. You have Hawk overseeing the overall battle, with the C-Scout running things on the frontlines and allowed to make quick adjustments as needed based on information coming in from the recon/spotters.

Speaking of Marines, I gotta say that Apone from Aliens is one of my favorite portrayals of a MSgt, second to Gunny from Full Metal Jacket of course.
Best quote: "All right, sweethearts, what are you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? Another glorious day in the Corps! A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm. Every meal's a banquet! Every paycheck a fortune! Every formation a parade! I LOVE the Corps!" |

I loved R. Lee Emery's (I think it was him) Sarge from We Were Soldiers. Everyday he passed by the same soldier and the soldier would say to him "good morning" or something like that.
In the middle of the battle, the Sarge goes to the soldier and says something like "now this is a good morning"

Plus don't forget Duvall from Apocalypse Now! "I love the smell of Napalm in the morning!" or "Charlie don't surf!" Except I don't think he was a Marine, but would've made a damn fine one!

So the recon-elements of the Battlefield Coordinators...
I'm thinking they're 3-4 man teams Recon Specialist Sniper Protection (sneaky guys who'se job is to help the Recon & Sniper get to where they need to go and get 'em out safely again)

The Joes should be organized like this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2nd_Cav...(United_States) It's the Stryker Brigade, but it seems like the joes would probably be a Battalion sized unit to me. 500-600 strong, not including the FLAGG. (An Aircraft carrier requires a crew of like 5000 not to mention the 7 other vessel it travels with) Just because of the sheer logistics involved with maintaining their equipment. You figure they have an arsenal of at least 100 tracked vehicles and 100 wheeled vehicles + the Helicopters and Planes would require at least 50 men to maintain. Probably 100. There are I think 180 named Joes. I don't know enough about logistical support to breakdown a Battalion. But with the different types of units, Air/Armor/Artillery , and given Hawk is at least a brigadier general they almost should be set up like a Marine Brigade. But that's like 5000 strong. |

Troynos, I think this is an excellent idea for a character and what Loose Cannon did with it earlier was really well done. I thought he wrote a file card that had a real "Hama" sort of a feel to it. I'll be glad to take a crack at it.
Code Name: Lone Wolf USMC Reconnaissance/Sniper File Name: Woolfe, Charles Michael Place of Birth: Annapolis, MD Primary Military Specialty: Force Recon (0321) Secondary Military Specialty: Scout/Sniper (0317) Rank/Pay Grade: E-7 (Gunnery Sergeant) Serial Number: 111-01-775 Woolfe was born at the Naval Academy. His father was the football coach at Annapolis, and a fourth generation Naval Officer. It was his father's dream that Charles would grow up to be an outstanding Naval Officer like his father was - hopefully on a Carrier or as a Pilot. Unfortunantly, Woolfe's parents were killed in a car accident when he was 12 and he spent the next 5 years being shuffled from one foster home to the next. That experience changed Charlie Woolfe into a loner who learned to depend only on himself - but patriotism was in his blood. At age 17, the State of Maryland legally declared Charlie and adult and allowed him to enlist in the Marine Corps. No one expected him to be the Honor Graduate at Paris Island, mainly because he was the quietest recruit they'd ever seen. After basic he attended the Marine Corps School of Infantry at Quantico, and eventually the Force Recon Course at Camp Lejeune. While at 2nd Recon, he attended Airborne, Ranger, HALO, Scuba, and Pathfinder Schools. He was then selected to go back to Quanitico to become a Scout/Sniper for MARSOC. While at Quantico, he earned the reputation for being the only Marine Scout/Sniper who didn't need or want a spotter. It was that distinction that brought him to the attention of the G.I. Joe Team. Gunny Woolfe is the quintessential "quiet professional". His performance is always exemplary, and his sense of duty is unfaltering. That's why he's the guy the Joe's send in first - way ahead of anyone else, just to recon and evaluate the situation. If the Joes decide to move in, it's likely that Lone Wolf will never move. He'll stay situated and snipe the enemy from a concealed position until the operation is completely over. Then, after everyone else has gone home, Gunnery Sgt. Charlie Woolfe will make his way on foot to his extraction point - sometimes 40 klicks away - just to make sure that there were no last minute surprises. He's the first in and the last out and He exemplifies the very best of what it means to be a U.S. Marine. I used the Name "Charles Michael" in reference to the phrase "Charlie Mike" which means "Continue Mission". |

My problem with the Joes having greenshirts and a fleet of vehicles has always been this: if you have 10 Tomahawks, each one has a pilot, what makes Lift Ticket so special?
