There's a Joe HQ with the command staff, battle staff (SOJ1-6), personal Staff (Chaplain, JAG, etc) x 3 Sabre Squadrons Operations Support Squadron (Intel, Combat Support) Aviation Squadron Support Squadron (Logistics, Communications, Medical, Engineering, Force Protection Platoon) Sabre Squadrons containing; - HQ Detachment - Support Troop - x 4 Troops of 20 men Support Troop containing; - Direct Support Intelligence Team - Direct Support Communications Team - Logistic Support Team (Mechanics, Supply / Admin staff) - Combat Support Team (EOD, Military Working Dog, CBRN, etc) I'll be using alot of contractors, civilians, etc. Especially with the Aviation guys. I'll have a small group of Rotary Wing and Fixed Wing Pilots (no jets) and a small group of mechanics (Low Ball, Peachy from the comic, Alice from the cartoon). I'll be writing that most of the Joes air assets are leased so about 95% of maintenance are done by whomever they're leasing it from and they only need a handful of mechanics and fuelers. There's a French SOF Aviation unit that just has 20 Pilots / Flight Engineers / Crew Chiefs and 10 Maintenance guys. They don't even have their own planes. They have an agreement with the French regular Air Force that every day a handful of air frames are available for their exclusive use. |

Here's something I never knew, whilst drafting my Multi-Purpose Dog Troop, I discovered that Military Working Dogs have ranks and are always one rank higher than their Dog Handler. That way, if a handler abuses their dog, they can be charged under the Uniformed Code of Military Justice for assaulting a superior officer.

It's been awhile since I posted. Hurricane Matthew had those of us on the coast busy for a period of time. LOL.
Anyway, here's Argentina's version of Deep Six. Not much different than the U.S. version... Deep Six (Argentina) – S.H.A.R.C. Diver: S.H.A.R.C. DIVER Code Name: Deep Six File Name: Willonghby, Malcolm R. [sic] SN: RA 226960917 Primary Military Specialty: Diver Secondary Military Specialty: Pilot of prototype ships, motorized Grade: PO 2nd (on the scale of submarine improvement) Deep Six never won an award for being friendly. He became a Navy diver in order “to be alone”. He likes to do newspaper crosswords. Only 12 of 50 Navy divers passed the strict requirements of this [surrounded?*] position on the Joe Force. From them, eight were eliminated in the practical test and of the four finalists, Deep Six could hold his breath for longer. His peers say, “In the deep sea, where the light does not reach and the water pressure can crush you like a cracked egg, that's where Deep Six feels comfortable.” * On the U.S. file-card, the word is "coveted," but that definitely did not translate back, so perhaps "surrounded" means "coveted" in Spanish idiom? |

Destro v.1 (Argentina) – Fuera de la Ley ‘Outside of the Law’:
DESTRO Code Name: Outside of the Law / Outlaw File Name: Unknown Military Specialty: Engineer (supposed) Military Specialty: Secondary: Artillery Crossing borders with dangerous weapons, Outlaw is a terrorist ready to intervene in the fight for any cause, anywhere. For him, arms smuggling better equipment means more money for the Cobra Organization to which he belongs. His only obsession is that their weapons are more sophisticated, never exceed the intelligence and bravery of the Commandos in Action. Yeah, the last sentence is awkward and contradictory, but it's a direct translation... By the way, believe it or not, Deep Six and Destro were the only 2 figures released in 1987 in Argentina. |

And here's Argentina's 1988 line-up, beginning with Sgt. Slaughter...
Sgto. Slaughter (Sgt. Slaughter v.2 - Argentina): SGTO. SLAUGHTER Code Name: Sgto. [Sargento] Slaughter File Name: Alan Heavy Primary Military Specialty: Commander of Espionage Secondary Military Specialty: Instructor of Military Exercises and Survival Grade: E-H [1st Sergeant?] Sgt. Slaughter is the chief instructor of military exercises and survival of the forces of G.I. JOE and natural leader of the Commandos as they know there are no insurmountable obstacles for him. His style is enclosed in a sentence: “Let's go guys!” and his aggressive attitude has earned him the respect and affection of all his subordinates despite being the hardest of the instructors. As head of the Tactical Commandos – the new task force of G.I. JOE – the sergeant has full authority to deploy the most powerful artillery. When Sgt. Slaughter comes into action the Cobra flee!! |

I'm on a roll! Here's another file-card from 1988...
Condor (Airborne - Argentina) – Capitan del Aire ‘Air Captain’: AIR CAPTAIN Code Name: Condor File Name: Sternfield, Aaron SN: RA 746907696 Primary Military Specialty: Artillery Secondary Military Specialty: Fighter [or, Combatant] Grade: G6 As a child, his greatest dream was to fly, so when his age would allow he took a course in parachuting and joined the forces of the Heroic Commandos. In free fall, Condor spies from heaven upon a group [and] chooses the point from where [he] can observe and attack his dangerous enemies. In his air attacks, his parachute seems to have wings, and his dominion is such that his fellow Commandos say about him with admiration: “The sky is the empire of Condor.” |

Here's an updated Argentinian file-card for Alpine...
Risco 'Crag' (Alpine – Argentina) - Escalador de MontaƱa ‘Scaler of Mountain / Mountain Climber’: MOUNTAIN CLIMBER Code Name: Crag File Name: Arthur Gray Primary Military Specialty: Mountaineering Tactician Secondary Military Specialty: Communications Engineer Grade: A-84 Arthur Gray joined the Army shortly after finishing high school. He is known among his peers as ‘Crag’ for his love of mountain climbing, [and] didn’t hesitate [lit. “no doubt”] to choose this specialty in military activity. Tenacious and brash G.I. JOE Commando, has climbed the highest peaks in the world on super-secret missions to install satellite earth bases of sophisticated technology. |

And here's Argentinian Footloose...
Coyote (Footloose - Argentina) – Infanteria Pesada ‘Heavy Infantry’: HEAVY INFANTRY Code Name: Coyote File Name: Robert J. Austin Primary Military Specialty: Infantry Secondary Military Specialty: Strategist Grade: A-6 From childhood, walking through the thick vegetation, through the currents of the rivers and surviving the perils of nature are the favorite pastime of the introvert Coyote. His vast experience on these voyages is the passport to joining the ranks of G.I. JOE. Thanks to his courage to carry out solitary and risky missions, where speed and his reflexes are the only guarantee to save his life, Coyote becomes a brave and irreplaceable G.I. JOE Commando. This one's kind of contradictory. He's considered a loner, yet he's supposed to be "Heavy Infantry" which is all about support (usually from an APC). Not sure what that's all about... |
