Pretty much what the Captain said. I also use them as Military Free Fall Qualified Operators assigned to my HALO Troop on the Joe Team. Here is that Troop:
JSOT-3 (HALO) Falcon (87) Troop Commander Starduster (87) Troop Sergeant Spirit (84) Troop Medic/Sniper Sneak Peek (87) Troop Communicator Echo Team Freefall (90) Team Leader Airborne (83) Ripcord (84) Demolitions Footloose (85) Crazy Legs (87) Assistant Team Leader/RTO/FO Cloudburst (91) Foxtrot Team Skydive (90) Team Leader Airwave (90) RTO Static Line (90) Demolitions Altitude (90) Airborne v2 (90) Medic Drop Zone (90) Assistant Team Leader I (like most of us here) like to delve into their backgrounds to figure out how they would acquire MFF training. It is limited to so many slots a year and a Culinary Specialist in the Army is most likely going to have zero chance of getting into that type of school versus a Special Forces soldier. Here is how I have their backgrounds: Skydive: joined the Army as a 42A Human Resources Specialist, re-enlisted as a 11B Infantryman. Served as a cadre in Ranger School. Not sure if it is a requirement to serve in the 75th Ranger Regiment in order to be a cadre of Ranger School. Does anyone know? Drop Zone: Enlisted as a 11B Infantryman then went 18B SF Weapons Sergeant. Served on a HALO ODA Static Line: Enlisted as a 15N Avionic Mechanic then went 18C SF Engineer Sergeant. Served on a HALO ODA Airborne v2: Enlisted as a 92R Parachute Rigger and went through MFF school as a rigger. Later went 18D Special Forces Medical Sergeant. Altitude: Enlisted as a 25M Multimedia Illustrator then reenlisted as a 11B Infantryman. Served either on a Long Range Surveillance Unit or the 75th Ranger Regiment Reconnaissance Company (to explain his "recon" MOS). Either one would have sent him to MFF school. Airwave: Hmm his old filecard says he was in the Signals Corps (CMF 25) now his new one states he is in Intelligence (35 CMF). Going to have to work on that one. Later he went 18E Special Forces Communications Sergeant. He either served on a HALO ODA or went to MFF school as a particular 25 CMF (which I believe is available to certain MOS's in that career field). EDIT: Forgot to add I completely do away with them being pilots. You are either going to fly the planes or jump out of them in the military, not both. If a few of them learned civilian flying on the side I see no issue with that (kind of how I see Flint with his helicopter piloting skills). SECOND EDIT: I mistakenly put CMF 15 as Intelligence. Corrected it 35 CMF. Also I agree with the others in terms of ranks, there would be no "Sergeant Major of the Army" as there is only one in the entire US Army. I will either make Skydive an E-7 or an E-8 and the rest either E-6's or E-7's. The majority of my Joes are either E-6 or E-7 (no one below an E-5 in my Joe-verse). Skydive was an E-8 in the original filecard, but like CapBritain I swapped ranks with Altitude. But as a Sgt Major not Sgt Major of the Army. That's silly. As far as piloting aircraft I totally ignore. They are not Officers. I can see them with Power wings or Jet packs though.
I treat them the same as CapBritain too as a Pathfinder/DA unit, but I include all of the paratroopers and some extra characters. Major Raine is a custom Air Force Special Tactics Officer. Countdown as an Air Liaison Officer Barrel-Roll as a Lt. Like in the comics. I am keeping him as a PJ though. Skydive as team NCO. Altitude as Recon team lead Airwave as senior Comms Sgt/Intel Drop-Zone as senior Weapons Sgt./Operations Sgt Six "Archangel" (Airborne II) Static-line Starduster Airstrike Sneek-Peak Airborne Ripcord Crazy Legs Manleh Cloudburst Condor Skymate Freefall Who did I miss? Oh yeah Sparrowhawk and Estopim (Man that needs a better codename did that get translated into something good?)

In regards to Airwave he could always have been an 18E and is now an 18F Intelligence SGT Last edited by Tyroc; 09-16-2016 at 12:41 PM.. |

Estopim translates as 'Fuse' - because like Short-Fuse he's an angry man.
What about Fuego, Alado, Albatross and Aguia Commando? |

No, you don't have to serve in the Regiment to be a cadre at Ranger School. They're separate entities. The Regiment is part of USSOCOM and the Ranger School is part of Training & Doctrine Command / TRADCOM. They do have to be Rangers if they're cadre for RASP however. Ranger School is just a finishing school for Infantry Officers and NCO's in small unit tactics, etc.
In regards to Airwave he could always have been an 18E and is now an 18F Intelligence SGT Thanks for the clarification on Ranger School cadre's! I knew they were separate entities but I thought i read somewhere all Ranger School cadre were required to have served in the 75th. I am still trying to figure out where Skydive acquired MFF training since I have him as an 11B MOS. Maybe he served on a LRSU team? I should have specified on Airwave, his new filecard said Signals Intelligence so that would still fall under the 35 CMF. However I am thinking of sticking to his original filecard which seems to indicate more the 25 CMF. I am thinking a 25C Radio Operator-Maintainer or a 25U Signal Support Systems Specialist (say that 10 times fast!). Later he goes on to become an 18E SF Communications Sergeant. |

I haven't thought about them. I need names for my custom Sky Patrol figures. Fuego Alado? Who are they?

Fuego or Fumaca (literally the only difference between the Argentine and Brazilian bios are the names; Smoke and Fire)
He's the first to face the "hottest" missions. Equipped with his oxygen mask, Smoke goes through fires and bombed out areas to the get the lay of the land. Amid the wreckage, there can always remain a hidden Cobra, ready to strike. But with his ultra-fast reflexes, Smoke anticipate any treacherous blow and holds enemies off. The other Commandos approach after the ground is clean and the smoke is gone just to prove that the value of Smoke never clears! Alado: (Argen) Alado is a born winner. He joined the Air Force early with the desire to become a pilot. But then he discovered that his true passion was parachute jumping. He travels the world jumping higher and higher and winning the most important awards: someone never ever danced in the sky like Alado. The falls like a feather drawing on the most incredible acrobatics air tests. His skill and talent aroused the admiration of his peers. (Brazil) Alado was a born winner. He joined the Air Force early: his dream was to become a pilot. But soon discovered that his business was even jump parachute. Travelled the world jumping higher and higher and winning the most important awards. No one danced in the sky like Alado. He falls into the target as a feather: quietly. Master in the parachute, Alado became master of troops Commando "Look bird" say the commandos "Look at the storm," as his enemies see it! |
