Great job, Cap. Brit!
But you did miss the 2nd part of Patano 2. I verified it and translated it myself. Here it is in its entirety: Pântano II ‘Swamp’ (1993 Battle Corps “Iceberg”) – Tropa de Assalto ‘Assault Troop / Squad’ / Piloto do Rothor ‘Pilot of the Rothor’ [Cobra Rat] The greatest pleasure of Pântano [is to] commit attacks in wetlands and marshland, full of sewage and pollution. He arrives with his immaculate white clothes and goes out laughing, totally dirty. Dirty yourself, body and soul, because he is capable of the highest "dirts" [or "nasties"] to achieve your goals! “He ever was like this. Ex-butcher, adoring [wishing / loving] sugar [on] your apron. Blood, fat, viscera… How much more dirty [he could get was] best. The Cobras see also [and] they realized what someone with these qualities would give [to make] one great combatant…" Quote:
that was Haley who posted the BC Iceberg/Marsh v2 card.
Specialization: sabotage and terrorist actions. Inhuman and bold the Terroks execute any plan of their leader Destro, however risky it is. This is due to not blind loyalty: the Terroks are highly paid to fulfil their missions. And are also super equipped: tear-gas grenades; Gas masks with anti-radiation filter: wrist computerized control of the D.E.M.O.N. Iron Grenadiers Brazil style. |

Some of the code names also don't translate too well, like Tigor or Urzor, which I imagine are the equivalent of saying Tiger-Man or Bear-Man. But what about Gladion, Furion, and Atena?

Gladion may be related to Gladius, the Roman sword.
I thought it was Athena.Never seen it spelt 'Atena' Tigor, Leontor, Kangor and Urzor are clearly in the realms of Thundercat names. It looks like the name for the animal they're related to, but is different enough for copyright. |

"Let's see who holds his breath any longer?" - This was the favourite game of Clean Air as a child. Logically, he was always the best! When the Commandos formed their elite troops, the Commandos knew a guy who had just come to the Records Book: 10 minutes without breathing! It was none other than the young Clean Air, who then led a movement against environmental pollution, making a kind of breathing strike! Today the Commandos of Tiger Force, - an elite squad composed of super commandos for missions that require superhuman ability, can breathe easy as it has a companion that makes any Force Naja "lose their breath"!

The Argentinian file-cards did, if I remember right. I just always assume that these are the same Joes as ours in the U.S., but operating under different code-names. Brazil can be a pretty volatile place at times. Not sure if U.S. soldiers could openly perform missions over there; hence the need for "alternate identities"?

The Commandos heard of an Indian, considered the "terror of the Amazon" that drove away hunters with bombs. "An Indian with explosives?! So it can only be a Cobra!" - concluded the Commandos. And they left to capture him. But because of the ability to escape into the dense forest, and he ended up chasing the Commandos and conquering them all! It was a half-breed of the jungle that only protected the animals and the forest, stopping deforestation by blasting machines of illegal logging. He was soon recruited to the Tiger Force, - elite troops of super commandos for missions that require superhuman ability. In the grip of the "Tiger of the Jungle" the Cobras station is lost in the jungle without hope!

Another interesting note: in Brazil, the 12 inch G.I. JOE figure was named "Falcon" up until the '80s. Later, they used the "Breaker" mold in the first wave in 1984 and named him "Falcon" also. I'm assuming it's because that action figure looked the most like the earlier 12 inch figure. I'd love to see his file-card; see if he stacks up to our Joe Colton in the States! (I suspect the correlation ends there, though, since the 3 3/4 inch "Falcon" was the Rádio Alerta ‘Radio Alert’ member of the team.)
Heck, it was short. I went ahead and "translated" it myself: Rádio Alerta ‘Radio Alert’ Code Name: Falcon (Breaker) Super equipped with his special inter-range radio, Falcon can call the other Commands to fight the terrible enemy. [A] Specialist [in] communications, Falcon also possesses an advanced radio helmet. Last edited by seaneley; 08-09-2016 at 11:19 PM.. |
